Rebuilding Benjamin Hand Pump

Amazon has a kit for rebuilding the Benjamin or Air Force Hand Pump.  --->


I have been having this pump for about six years and it now needs rebuilding. Is this the kit I need for the job?  Or is there a better place to get the correct kit at a lower price?

The diagram looks right.  Usually it’s just the final stage O-ring that sees any wear but if you want to do a complete reseal, that’s understandable.

Another option would be to get one of the Chinese pumps from eBay or Ali Express for $30.  Surprisingly enough they are substantially more durable.  Just for consideration if you value your time or unsure if you want to mess with it.  I say that as someone who has worked on Benji pumps more times than I care to admit.

Thanks, Jason, for the advice.  I may rebuild the Benjamin and get an Ali Express too.  (Our Spring season starts in ten days and I am not able to pump my rifles right now -    - Not a good thing.

Mike, I would do/get both. I have replaced one o’ring on one Chinese pump after a year when it blew. I have 3 pumps, one Hill (best built but way more expensive) and two Chinese, mostly for back up. The Chinese ones are great work horses, best for your hard earned money.

Randall, that is the plan right now.  I have the Benjamin working again.  I just finished pumping the Stormrider to 3,000 psi.  It's all good.  But no backup worries me during the squirrel season.
I didn't see any for $30 - but there were some at about $40.

Mike, check out ebay because on most of the pumps you can make an offer since there are many sellers of these pumps, that’s what I’ve done. Make sure you know to add in shipping if needed. You can also check Walmart prices.

Well, I fell like I made a deal/steal.  I got my pump repaired for a $1.50 for o-rings and a little grease.  Then I bought a US pump for $32.30 and FREE shipping.  It is the one with the extra o-rings and the wrench.  I should be fixed up for another three years of trouble free pumping.
Squirrels are cringing everywhere in Murfreesboro now.

Throw it in an unseen corner, and buy one of the $45 Ebay pumps.  You'll be glad you did.  Three stage, fills to 4500 psi, and simply works better than the Benjamin.  I have both.  Only advantage the Benjamin could have, is that it can be made to be pressure fed.  (Supercharged) 

Edit:  Oops...  I now see that you bought one!  Guess they're even cheaper now!  lol

The new pump arrived yesterday.  After I assembled it, I gave it a test by pumping the Diana Stormrider to 3000 PSI.  It worked fine.

Thanks, Mark.  The plan is to get to the woods as soon as the weather permits.  Rain is in the forecast
