PRod frustration

Hey all, another problem child caused by 5 years of neglect. I'm back shooting and finding some leakers. My PRod is leaking down. I rebuilt once replacing all the o-rings with #113 and new valve o-ring from Crosman but it still leaked down. Ordered new valve stem and replaced that and all the o-rings again. This time using the Danco #11 rings which supposedly are same dimensions. Leaks worse than before! Seems to be leaking past valve as a balloon over barrel does fill.
I even deburred the gauge hole and sanded the edges so no damage to rings there.
How tight am I supposed to screw the valve together? I checked the seat on the valve stem/striker and the stem itself. Am I supposed to do something special here like heat up the stem before assembly so it conforms?
Any tips for me on this one?

If it's leaking out the barrel, it has to be leaking at the poppet. Do you have a heavy hammer spring? You can try letting it sit cocked, on an empty chamber and see if it still leaks. If it does, you may need to try lightly burnishing the poppet to the seat.

I had a leak on my Prod once, the cause was a metal debris between the valve seat and the poppett,i replaced the poppett because the plastic was damaged by the debrise.i simply cleaned the valve and the whole tube and replaced the poppett.
the valve can be tightened by hand.
Can be the poppett needs some shot to seal down.

Thanks guys. I didn’t even think to shoot it a bunch of times to mate the poppet. I’ll try that tonight and see if there’s joy in the morning!

Ok I aired up and realize it’s leaking air from the vent hole at back of gauge. May also be leaking from barrel but definitely a fast leak from gauge.
Can those be cleaned or is that just a replacement? If so is it best to order from Crosman or are there better aftermarket gauges?

McCarr Master makes the best gauges, I hear but...
Every time I order from Crosman I add a gauge to fill out the order.
Have 10+ and since I ordered them I haven’t hd to replace one...
