I failed to consider.....

The probe was sent via USPS which delivers to us very early. Tracking shows it as 'out for delivery'. That means it will be here within the next hour or so.
Things are 'bout to get busy 'round here...

I called ATI and will order one these rejects tomorrow.

I’m up to my armpits in airgun stuff and then I do this ... I think I’m heading toward purgatory !

Well I called ATI yesterday and they said my 22 cal Freedom will go out Monday ;- (

I was hoping to get it Wed or Thur but it may be longer then that. In the meantime I'm gathering as much info as I can by reading this thread and others ... thanks for all the info guys  !

Not going to contaminate Bill's thread with my bad luck streak anymore ...looks like yours is a winner Bill! 
Mine is now on hold unless I can find 100% silicone lube...be careful, because most of the stuff in Lowes HD etc., SAYS silicone, but some have hydrocarbon based additives from what I have seen reading the MSDS's.  Called dive shops too, so looks like I will be waiting until next week sometime when Amazon shows up. 


Oh, I did degas it and the pump handle came in and pumped a couple of strokes, so I am guessing the seals may be contaminated somehow ..doesn't seem like a mechanical bind.  Makes sense James!

Are there any RC car shops around. They carry silicone oil.

I have a local shop that handles Rc and paintball. Just played him a visit told him what the oil was for and he recommended something else. He told me to use silicon spray, said the silicon oil is not a true lubricant  it's made for holding and accepting pressure in the shocks on rc  vehicles. Said to spray three or four short bursts Into oil hole then pressurize the tank and then shoot to let it float though the system.

I'd be concerned about an alcohol flush or spray lubes that might contain volatile propellants which could degrade certain seal materials. I'm wondering if my "gummy soft" pump piston seal was the result of some over zealous previous owner using alcohol or the wrong lube.

OK I had some catching up to do reading all the posts for the last ~36 hours.  With every page I read I got more hungry from you describing what you had for breakfast/lunch/dinner...    but I got to the part where your Freedom has a leak   Dang, sorry to hear that Bill.  Yours is not the only gun from the $100 batch or the $349 batches with a leak if it makes you feel any better.   It's the #1 issue with this gun.  I am sure you will resolve it on your own or with the help of our wonderful members and Freedom owners.  My guess is it needs 1 or 2 #70 or 90 polyurethane o-rings, like most PCP's which leak years later.

Thanks for answering my question on the muzzle report.  I want one badly but I know I would stress out way too much thinking of the condition the gun will arrive in and what might or might not work on it since these are hit or miss.  When the manufacturer figures out all the bugs and improves the internal I will be getting one of these.  I really like the idea of not depending on an air source, but I am in no hurry.

Silicone oil isn't a good lube but it's what we need to use so we don't get dieseling or worse. I think I remember someone saying the spray contained mineral oil and would be subject to dieseling. IMHO I would not use the spray.

1 or 2 #70 or 90 polyurethane o-rings is for the pump problems not the tank leak problems. I read there was rust on the check ball on the rifles that leak. Also read someone just used a BB in place of the check ball but I'm not sure on that one.

This is true some sort of petroleum product is used as a carrier, and then there is the propellent. Don't believe me shoot some over a lighter sometime Oh do that outdoors btw Also read the label it will probably say something like "Warning extremely flammable"!

My Aspen came with a small bottle of silicone oil. I have extra now. If you want I can send some to you.

Well, that was disappointing.....

I was kinda hoping I would need to excessively tinker. Maybe not so much.
Here is my very frist 9 shot string.
2900 psi to 2300 psi. On low power setting.
Like I said before, I know it will take 17 strokes to pump it back to 2900 - 3000.

Average 727 fps gives me, what?.... average 12.3 fpe?

Is that not real close to what I expected?

That string is a 7 spread with a 2 es.... not shabby at all.

Looks like a couple costume malfunctions....

First 3 shots didn't register on the chrono. Had to make minor adjustment.
Here are the last 7 on high power.
That's 20.1 fpe with a 10.5 .177 dome. And the was shot #10.
From 3k - 2k.
So, you fellas that want power with a .177 and don't mind pumping or using a fill source, Run that hammer spring in and have at it.
I think I'll hang down here with my 12.3 fpe for 10 pin point shots and 17 strokes for round 2.
