Thanks for posting this Steve, I was curious about this.  How hard is it to fit the Delrin seal?  I would think it would be difficult to get it sized exactly right (to get an air-tight seal)

They seem to do well Zack. The length they are made to allows some pressure as cocking lever is latched.  After a handful of shots they seat well and conform to the breech.

You can reach out to Tony Leach (TonyL).  Keep in mind that these seals are made to fit Tony’s 22mm kits.

I have been playing with the seals below different grades and durometers.  Not in the kit as Steve is working, standard set up.  I have been running either the V75 green or brown touching the breech, as the are better wearing and the standard oring underneath.  This still allows compression in my mind but takes up a little slack with the stiffer V75 on the outside.  I have yet to replace either the green or brown as they show zero wear.  The V90 I have not used they are pretty stiff.  These can be had cheap from this source compared to OEM.

Well I received my 22mm kit for my B40 last week but have had some medical issues arise that have prevented me from starting a new thread on the conversions to make it fit.

Got the compression chamber and 22mm sleeve fitted so far. I had to have the chamber ground out by a friend at a machine shop as I tried to sand the OD of the sleeve to fit the chamber but after removal of .005" OD it still would not slip into chamber and did not want to thin sleeve to much so had to chamber ground out to fit the sleeve. Perfect fit now. The chamber was out of round by .080" so it needed honed to become round again for a snug fit. Next step is to drill the piston rods cross pin out to remove latching rod to install in the 22mm piston.

Got a heart cath today so will have to see what the fix the doc does to know when I can get back to finishing the conversion.

I will start a new thread with pics and detail on extra steps to convert the B40 to the 22mm kit.

Well had the heart cath Friday and had a 95% blockage in  my right coronary artery that got a stent placed in it to bring back to full flow. So I now have a total of 4 stents with 2 in my Lateral ascending dissecting artery ( LAD artery AKA the widowmaker ) and 2 in the right coronary artery. Luckily have not actually had a heart attack as of yet and hope to avoid one at all cost. I am still weak and my blood pressure is all over the place now that flow has been fixed so just requires me and Doc to revisit dosages of blood pressure meds to get it back under control. I fully expected to have to adjust those meds after the fix.

I am doing much better now and just need to take my time to get back up to speed.

Very good to hear!  My father in law had a number of stints put in similar lacotions as you about 4 years ago (including the widowmaker).  He had a little bit of recovery time after the surgery, but since this, he has been BETTER than before the surgery.  He has felt better and has had similar energy.  Although I think he may have changed his eating habits a bit too

I am definitely going to take it easy for awhile. I was able to get the latching rod out of the B40 piston today so it felt good to get something accomplished at least.
I will be starting a thread on the conversion of a B40 soon since it all ready to reassemble. It will have pics and explanation of how to drill and remove cross pin holding latching rod in piston. One easy added step that still keeps it fully reversible.

I have had an interesting 9 months with it starting last summer feeling tired and unrested all the time. I was not sleeping good at all and had a sleep study done in November which showed I had severe sleep apnea ( I quit breathing 50 to 120 times an hour or woke up every 30 to 72 seconds to start breathing again ) Not good at all and I truly believe that led to my heart issues requiring a stent being placed in my right coronary artery Friday. I tried a CPAP for 4 months and was sleeping less with it than without it if that was even possible. I was getting even more worn out from trying to use it and listening to myself breath with the noise the machine made so it and me were not compatible at all. I took it back and took the bull by the horns so to speak and made some drastic lifestyle changes. On April 11 I weighted 285 pounds ( the most I have ever weighed in my life so far ) so this it what I have changed. I gave up all sodas, sugars, carbohydrates or anything that turns to sugar in your body, cut my food intake by 50 to 60% of what I ate previously. So mainly meats and cheeses and dairy products along with some veggies ( not a big veggie eater so limited in selection of what I will eat veggie wise) I am now at 250 pounds and breathing all night and regaining my energy/sleep time back. I had confirmation Friday night after the stent was placed in my artery due to having a blood oxygen saturation meter attached to me for the overnight stay. I slept a solid good 4 hours and my nurse told me my oxygen saturation levels never dropped below 94% all night so my sleep apnea is no longer active.

My goal is to get back to 200/205 pounds which is where I was at in 2013 before my first heart cath and stents installed. I felt good at that weight and my arthritis was very manageable as well. Seeing the 35 pounds weight loss in about 6 weeks is a great motivator to allow me to reach my goals and enjoy a much healthier and happier life for years to come.

Steve - have you had a chance to try out the Delrin seal in hot and cold weather?  I'm curious how it might perform at a field target match where it's really cold in the morning and hot in the afternoon.  Sometimes there can be 50 degree temp swings.
