So I got an email from NOE that I am in the $1000 club and am eligible for a discount on future orders. 😁

I actually have 14 NOE molds right now (other brands too but we are only talking NOE molds, not the total number of molds) and the reason is the good bullet designs that few other companies seem to care about, they just produce the same-ol-same-ol and no innovation. Plus, most other mold companies don't even seem to know air rifles exist but NOE sure does work to fill our niche needs!

I just went and checked the site and the first mold that I bought from them isn't listed, it's a discontinued mold that flopped. Right now if I ordered a brass mold it would put me over the $1000 mark probably.

Wayne52, how long ago did you buy your first mold? It might be that the program only started a year or so ago and previous purchases weren't counted? I actually think it's something like that, otherwise I would have qualified back a few molds ago so the first ones must not have counted, only the later ones.
Like you, it would only take 7 or 8 of the last molds to pass $1000 and now I'm getting the offer after buying two molds on the 10th Anniversary Sale, so....

Right now I am better than half way there with 6 molds and three complete sets of sizers (.22, .25 &.30). If I had the funds I would be there PLUS.

Bob I'm still looking forward to when they start making the wad cutter mold in .217 and the 217-30-RF in hollow point, that would put me over the $1K mark. This is really neat to know and I'll eventually be looking forward to that email from NOE

A 217-30 would a great addition and I would defiantly but one. Someone should start a poll or buyers group on this mold to get the fire started.

I called Al at NOE and mentioned a few items and one of them was that Bullfrog wanted a .457 pellet mold.
I told him that I agreed with him that high powered air rifle shooters did not need a pellet and had lots of choices in regular bullets but said the lower powered shooters probably did.
He said he knew there were requests but he did not think it would be too successful a shooter (Al shoots airguns too) and would consider it but it was not a priority as many other molds were ahead of it.
Hey, I tried.

IF there was a big 'Group Buy' that would amortize the cost of producing the cherry OR someone was to pay to have the cherry ground ($300.00) then the mold could be produced sooner rather than later or not at all. I personally have paid for the cherry for a couple of molds that are now being used by others as a general contribution to airgun shooting so someone who really wants a .457 pellet could do that.
I recommend organizing a group buy, that will tell you what interest there is.
I like Al, he's a standup guy and I consider him a friend and want him to succeed in selling molds but maybe those who want a .457 pellet should buy one of those African Air Ordnance molds.

I appreciate the effort.

A light .45 pellet may be one of those things that people will have to see in action for there to be a demand. The .45 Texan SS and some of the Korean .45s are just plain underpowered for launching heavy slugs at a flat shooting velocity.

I suppose I’ll have to hold my nose and order the AAO one. Nothing against AAO, its just that $300 plus a 10 week wait is a hard pill to swallow.

Travis that would be a big pill to swallow no doubt !!! Then when you do get it you'd still be in the dark as to how they were going to shoot.

Exactly. Its a big risk if the gun doesn’t like them.

It seems like around 145 grains is the magic number for the .45 Texan SS to get a good shot curve and to hit around 900fps. A pellet or a bullet is all the same to me. It just seems like a pellet would be better able to handle the shorter length necessary to keep the weight down than a bullet.

I’m hungry for the Hunter pellets primarily because my other Airforce guns shoot them so well. I figure chances are good that the .45 will like them too.

Right now the only projectiles I have in the 145 weight range that my .45 SS shoots well are Hornady roundball and hand cast roundball from a cheap Lee mold. For some reason it won’t shoot the .45-70 collar button bullet well at all, where my brother’s long Texan shoots them at least acceptably.

Well, $300 is the price of the cherry mill and then it can make many more molds so $300 for one mold or $300 for it being stocked for everyone. That's what group buys are really about, spreading the cost of that initial investment. Get a group of guys to split the cost, more guys, less cost to the individual.

I don't really need the pellet but I will throw in $25 for the project.

I talked with my brother on the phone a few days ago, my next time over there I'm going to bring along a couple of these molds. I'm not getting my hopes up but he is constantly making cash all the time since he's been retired and a lot of the work he's been doing he takes to a mold shop that he has keys to the place and free reign. If it wasn't for him many of the machines that are there wouldn't even be running, he rebuilt a bunch of them and put all modern readouts and all that good stuff on them. He's a retired Journeyman mold maker. Just maybe he'll build me a .177 mold so I can start casting some good .177 pellets with. I sure the heck ain't going to count my chickens before the eggs are hatched.

The one big plus is he loves airguns, I'll even offer him all the pellets he wants if it does happen.
