Zoraki hp 01/webley alecto long barrel power increase

Hi folks,

I have 10 inch barrel in 177 cal in my zoraki and Im planning replace it with longer 18" or even 24 crosman barrel. What kind of power boost could I expect?

Did someone tried so long barrels in zoraki?

My 10" barrel is custom made from slavia hammer forged barrel and its very accurate and not pellet picky, but I need more power with less pumps

Might not get many replies as this pistol has not been available in the US for a while.  I was lucky and just bought one that was posted on American Airguns . net. 

I've owned two others in the past and sold them when I was tired of shooting them.  Never thinking it would be a problem to replace them.  They are nice pistols and you will expect an increase in velocity with a longer barrel provided you get it positioned in the housing correctly.

I got a 93 fps increase (2.2 fpe) going from the 7.2" oem to a 14.5" custom in .177 cal.

Thanks for replies an infos folks, I actually sold mine Zoraki today, but Im planning to buy an ultra version in near future. That extra 4th pump is tempting 

Im planning to install a 20 inches long barrel from slavia 631, it will be more accurate than crosman barrels, also attach ~20 inch  long aluminium profiles to the stock - one on the top and one on the bottom, it will give a twice longer leverage, so pumping will be much easier and it will also work as cheek rest, so my zoraki will turn into full size PCA  rifle.

I will update pictures when I finish the project.

I have now Germany version of zoraki limited to 7.5 joules.
Short barrel 3 pumps 173 m/s 7.9 grains

Long barrel taken from Crosman 1077 length 20 inches speed 216 m/s 7.9 grains

So there is a nice power increase from ~7.5j to 12 joules.

My next step will be to unlock power by twisting valve screw to maximum so it should have around 2 joules increase on 3rd pump plus 24 inches Crosman barrel, which I'm presuming should give output around 15 joules on 3rd pump.

Mario, I would strongly advise against turning in the pressure-relief valve screw. I left mine at the factory setting. Anymore than that means the pressure can build enough to create too much stress for the long term. And, if you only plan to pump three times, the factory setting should not be releasing air.... you'll get no benefit from tightening the screw.

But that is a nice power increase from the longer barrel. Yours is shooting stronger than mine for sure!
BTW, I can pump mine four times because I'm at 7000' elev and the air density is 3/4 of sea-level.

Manufacturer test shows that on finale match 7.89 grains pellets zoraki has 189m/s which is 9 joules
 
The German version zoraki is limited only because of the German law 7.5joule max.

So the extra 1.5 joules is perfectly fine to gain and 9j. it will be normal power level for the pistol.
I'm not gonna try to exceed that

If my pistol had 9 joules already I wouldn't fiddle with it, but 1.5 joules extra is very tempting
