25.4 grain ultrashock expansion

At 18fpe into a milk jug of water, JSB ultrashocks do not expand at all.

The entrance and exit holes look like perfect paper hole punched circles.

If you wanted a heavy wadcutter, this might be the ticket.

560-570fps is way too slow to get any hollowpoint that I know of to expand.

If you want to get the Ultra Shocks to expand, you need to get them up above 800fps


I shoot them out of my 50fpe Rainstorm & they mushroom pretty darned good.

For sure. At 50fpe I bet meisterkugelns turn into a lead coin and polymags probably turn into a ring.

What fpe is needed for cphp to expand?

 I’m just one of those “Let’s see what will happen.” kind of people. I was actually looking for a heavy wadcutter and this is kind of good news to me.

You're right Sam. At 50fpe any hollowpoint is going to expand. And yes, Meisterkugelns do turn into a lead coin. I tried it!     Haven't tried the PolyMags @ 50fpe yet, but now you got me thinking at 05:45...

If the Ultra Shocks work for you, that is indeed good news. I know I like 'em.
