No I own only one 880 and I shoot only pellets out of that. If I want to shoot BB's there it goes out of my Red Ryder.
I also don't shoot BB's out of my Crosman Vigilante, even if I could, besides it has a rifeled barrel and I don't want to ruin that either with BB's. So if I wanted to shoot BB's out of a Pistol, I would propably getting me a BB Pistol for it.
Nothing wrong with shooting once in a while a Red Ryder, it's a fun little gun, and quite accurate for what it is, in the range limits and power limits, and really cheap to shoot and to maintain. Easy to handle and to cock too, so if you got a lasso scope rail on it, and a red dot sight a cheap one it is quite a little short range plinking machine. LOL

After reading post several months ago about the P-17, I just had to have one and dont regret it.
Looks like the same thing is going to happen after reading this thread! you guys are destroying my nest egg.

If you didn't regret buying a P17 for thirty bucks, I bet you won't regret buying an 880 for thirty-five.

Guys joke about having to eat ramen noodles for a while to recover from a new airgun purchase. You'd have to eat ramen for years to make up for a new Weihrauch... you can recoup 880 money by skipping a lunch at a restaurant one or two times, or passing up one happy hour with the guys at work one time, etc. It's the kind of money that's fairly easy to fit into even a tight budget.

But BBs are the connection to my shooting past that got me into airguns!

I have a accumulated a nice selection of airguns that I really enjoy (all springers or pumpers) and that I'm happy with. There are not too many models I'm really interested in adding. I have no desire to purchase a PCP. I do a lot of shooting with powder burners, too, and am satisfied with my collection of pistols, rifles and shotguns.

That leaves BB guns. I still need a few more of those!

I made that very comment last week about buying an HW35E. While it wouldn't take me a year to recoup, it would definitely take a couple months.

However,.......This week I'll be picking up a sliding breech 1377 for $35. Don't ask me why. I have one modded 1377, three 1389's, a 2240 and a sliding breech 1300 in .22 cal., so why do I need another something similar? Because this one is a slider in .177?

The real answer is that, as you said, $35 is easily recovered and I do have an addiction to these guns. I like restoring them as much as shooting them.

And this is not off topic because I've done the same thing with 880's, which is why I have three of them. One new one and two steel ones that I restored.

I didn't mean to mention the funny story as a teaser... it's just something that comes to my mind every time I see a Daisy 880. It's one of those "you had to be there" kind of things with a long backstory and it involves the most serious of safety violations, so I won't relate it.

But back to the 880...

I picked up my second 880 today. I tore into it immediately and did some smoothing and polishing on the trigger parts. I also removed the flat spring, wetted down the sponge wiper with some secret sauce and thoroughly cleaned and de-greased the barrel. I waited to do some test shooting before I mounted the scope.

I was not just pleased, but impressed, when the rifle shot BBs exactly to the point of the aim of the unadjusted open sights and was shooting them pretty accurately, too; much better than my other 880. But this didn't last long... after about ten shots, the POI started shifting up and left. This had me wondering if it was because the barrel was getting fouled with oil. I brought the rifle inside and cleaned the barrel again. The POI again matched the POA for several shots but then ended up creeping up and left again. Interesting...

After this testing, I put the scope on. This scope explains all the advice to simply toss the scope in the trash when you unpack the rifle. My other scope is surprisingly good. This one has a blurry spot right smack in the center.

It's functional though; just not nearly as good as the one that came with my first 880. I have a 3-9x32 Optima that came with a Hatsan package that I may mount up.

My Model 35 is due to arrive tomorrow. I'm having a daisy of a week!

Congrats on your second 880... those things are addictive.

I’ve got two in brown and my excuse for a third is I want one in black.
I plan on one of geo’s ldc’s on that one and maybe some power mods.... maybe.

Don't get me started, Dennis! Two 880s is already one more than I need. Actually, I don't NEED any! I have plenty of springers that get the same job done by cocking them just once. (But darn, those little 880s are fun!)
