BSA Lone Star

Gentlemen: We've all heard that BSA has, for the most part, moved to the Gamo factory in Spain. And we all know what's happened to the Gamo brand since that happened but what of the BSA Lone Star? I was so curious about it that I emailed Airguns Of Arizona to ask. I just received their reply. They said..(quote ) "The Lone Star is made in the U.K. by BSA Guns. BSA is owned by the same corporation as Gamo, but the pre-charged product is still made in the U.K. They did move the spring production over to Spain as Gamo is more efficient in manufacturing spring guns, but has no idea how to build PCP's. This is BSA's strength in the company" (unquote).
I kinda like the looks of the Lone Star and if it IS made in the U.K. wouldn't that make it a better rifle as far as quality is concerned? I'm pretty sure some of you now have ,or have had, a Lone Star so I'm asking for opinions. What do you think about 'em? Are they well-built? Reliable? Any issues that might bite you back down the road? I'm assuming here, that the fill would be in the 3000 psi range so a tank would be necessary. I'd appreciate any comments, pro AND con, concerning the Lone Star. Would YOU buy one or not? And why?
Thanks
Larry

OK...Judging from the huge response this question generated, I must assume that the BSA Lone Star is such a great rifle, no words are necessary.
On the other hand, since no one cared to respond at all, it's possible that the Lone Star is such a terrible gun, no one wanted to be associated with it.
What a dilemma I caused!

The only person I know that actually has one is Randall. Aka johnny quest. BSA PCP guns are still made in the UK and they are high quality. The front cocking button takes some getting used to but it is useful in terms of stealth in my opinion. You will need a moderator on it to make it neighbor friendly if you wish. I have never fired a lone star but I have read that it is rather powerful. Hope that helped some

I had a calibre 25 Lonestar but I sold it when I got the Elite.
Its made in England and of good quality, very accurate but also very LOUD.
About 15 shots in one fill, within a 20 fps spread running at 45 fpe.

I have a BSA Lonestar .25 cal and I love it. Super power & super accuracy. It was LOUD, but I had a TKO half shroud made and now it is very manageable in the backyard. Not the greatest pic, but you can sorta see the LDC. You definitely need the tank because it fills to 230 BAR or 3200 PSI. I love everything, except that it is single shot. As long as quality has not gone down hill, I would purchase again in a second.
Take Care,
Alan

BSA is still making their PCPs in the UK (for now). Even the Gamo DynaMax is a "BSA made rifle", for the most part.
The Lonestar that I shot (not mine) was a .22 shooting about 770 fps and was the newer gun with the BSA logo cast into the trigger guard. I would look for that feature as I believe it may be the obvious sign of a newer version of the gun, as the older versions did not have this.
The gun was LOUD by M-rod or Disco type comparisons. I believe it has the usual 1/2" UNC threaded muzzle and you will prob want an LDC of fairly large proportions attached to it. The MMC cocking knob is actually a nice feature, it's just a different way to divide the cocking effort between the bolt and the rest of the innards and makes it quiet when hunting to do the final cocking.
Check with AoA but, I also think that this is an unregulated and adjustable power gun? I have no idea how it adjusts but I remember being told that it was so.

BSA has been owned by Gamo since 1986. This is not some recent purchase.
