Hi

I ponder on placement of a pcp tube as I have ordered a custom stock that I do not feel like cutting up, so I considing mounting it on the underside or straight out the side like a sten mag...

Could we post pictures in this thread for inspiration for those that contemplating  adding a bottle?

  Have never tried an asymetric bottle (one hanging off the side like a STEN gun),and maybe I could get use to it.

HAve always hung the bottle guns I use either as front mounted or back mounted...and of the two,I'drather not grab the round bottle as a fore endand soon settled on the forward bottle.


HAve had a chance to shoot (but not own) one of the old Crosman co2 rifles that had a hangy-tank and an LD converion "hangly tank"MKI pistol co2conversion. MIght be something to that pointed down counter weight for off hand shooting with either,but they pretty well not so good for bench or prone shooting.

YOu'll have to tell me how an asymetrical (hanging off the side) tank works.  Don't see any problem with it working,juct wonder about that off set weight.

Most of my bottled PCPs have the tank reversed under the plenum (main tube)…. Of course that requires a custom tank block, which I make myself.... This is a custom 6 mm, to which I can also fit .172, .224 or .257 cal. barrels....



Here are a pair of 2260s, converted to HPA, the bottom one is .25 cal....



This I call the "Grizzly", it's a .30 cal HPA version of the XS-60C....



and then another custom, my Hayabusa, which has 9 different versions, from .22 cal regulated all the way to a .410 shotgun and .457 rifle, unregulated and over 500 FPE....



I have made a few conventional bottled conversions, here are my BRods…. .35 cal. on top, .30 in the middle and .25 cal. on the bottom....



Plus, I have a couple of QBs, this one a QB79 with a custom stock....



and this one a pretty unusual QB78 with twin reversed 88 gr. cylinders converted to HPA....



Lastly, a very simple 2240 conversion that is under 500 fps to suit the Canadian rules for unlicensed airguns…. over 300 shots per fill, though....



Plus a few I have sold over the years....

Holy smokes Bob , and I thought I had a few bottle guns . They aren’t much to look at but great for consistent shot count .

I have one other configuration that I considered for a twin bottle gun.... Make up an inverted "V" shaped tank block and use the bottles for the legs of a bipod.... 
Problem is, it wouldn't be adjustable, and it might be too high for bench work.... OK for prone, maybe.... 

I now have a pair of 490 cc CF 250 bar bottles (only 15 oz. each) I am thinking of using for a side by side reversed setup like that QB78 above.... but with over 1000 cc of air onboard including the plenum.... If I do, I would build an adjustable regulator into the tank block, vertically between the necks of the bottles.... It would certainly sit nicely on sandbags on a bench, the tanks acting like a wide beavertail fore-end....

It seems from most pictures that Bottle feed guns look best as skeletonised rifles with pistol grip and wire stocks... Very tacticool

I did some magic on the computer, (I tested some kind of Photoshop)

And I did draw 4 bottled setups I have considered.

I really like the rear bottle as it gives straight flow and is easiest to machine, It will however not work in most stocks.

The side bottle would also be quite easy to make and could be used with minor mods to a woodstock, but it may look a bit retaded

I will see when I get the stock (it's a boyd's laminate stock) perhaps I put it the self and make a cool wire frame rifle.

I have seen bottles out the back before... similar to an Airforce gun.. What adapter is needed for those?

Were 7 runing on HPA at one time....but I'm down to two HPA bottle guns.

A Crosman turned out nice enough (although in this picture, it's a small co2 tank in use):



Did run a Hammeri 850 on an HPA tank for a few months....turns out I missed  co2 with that one more than I liked HPA.

Not going to count an AirFroce Talon SS....was just a flirtation with HPA rather than something I stuck with for very long...but it takes care of the tank-as-stock idea.which can certainly work...but with most rifles would require some plumbing.

Tried the reverse tank feel....some like it, but I'd rather hold a foreand than a tank . Didn't bother me much from a bench rest, but did when out moving around.


Besides...you mentioned not wanting to cut on an existing stock, which pretty well rules out reverse tanks (unless you hang them way-way down low)and the tank as butt stock idea.

I'll still shoot some of non-tankers teathered to a HPA tank, which works fine for pellet testing or bench shooting.

Did previously mention shooting an old Crosman CG rifle (one where the tank hangs under the rifle)..but I've never had the urge to mount one sticking out to the sideand couldn't think of reasonable reason to mount one sticking up from the top.

Not going to claim something I haven't tried to be a bad idea...have no idea...maybe to the side  or sticking up would be great.

Don, my Grouse Gun has a tubular reservoir, not a bottle.... I get 16 shots at 20 FPE, which is more than enough for a day's hunting (5 bird limit here)….

I don't have any bottled guns. I have no idea why because i have just about everything else. I think I would prefer the bottle out the rear.

So far I skipped the bottle build and bought an Air Force.
My thought , though not sure of the bottle dimensions, is could a 48 ci ninja like bottle be used, possibly as a hanger setup?
 Other thought is a tether to a backpack bottle 90 ci LOL
