Photo Posting Question...

I only use my phone for forums. That said... How do I post a photo from my GTA Media file? I’ve tried a number of things, and have struck out. Ideally I’d like to find a way to post full photos, rather than the thumbnail size images. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks!

Try using a photo resizing app. It's what I do. There are several, just look on Google play store or the app store for iPhones.
I typically use a 600x800 size, you lose a little bit of detail, but it still looks decent.

Sorry but I do not have any experience using a phone to manage photos. I need at least a 17" laptop screen to do my duty. LOL
If anyone has the expertise or experience juggling photos around from a smart phone, please feel free to write up a tutorial for the rest of us. It will become a sticky in this gate.

This is not necessarily a tutorial, but what I've been using is the free photo host website called postimages.org --> https://postimages.org/

I take a picture with my phone, go to my web browser (in my case Firefox) go to postimages, choose upload, find the photo in my files and upload it. Then right click (press and hold with your finger on a phone) on the newly uploaded pic, choose "copy image location", go back to the GTA editor and use the [*img] ** [*/img] format with the copied info in place of the double red stars and post it. (NOTE - remove the red stars and spaces. Also PREVIEW before you post it please).

It sounds like a lot of steps, but it took me all of about 3 minutes (not including the color editing for this particular post) to do all of that and post this pic. All from my phone.

I have been on forums for quite a while and am only familiar with two options.
Uploading your pic to a web host, used to be Webshots, then Photobucket, now Imagur...

If I want to upload it straight to GTA from my (Android) phone, it has to be as an attachment and comes out as a thumbnail that must be clicked on...
BUT before I can do that, I must resize it. I accomplish that by e-maling it to myself, choosing the file size, and when I receive my own e-mail I save the resized pic to my gallery.

Yeah Scott, I went through all of that myself; Google photos, photobucket, others.. until I discovered postimages.org. That is where I upload them to and then retrieve the "image location" from there.

I don't know of any way to directly upload to GTA other than the method you're using, as attachments. The biggest problem with an attachment is having to resize the image. Posting a link within the [img] brackets takes you to the hosting site and the original size of the pic.

There are others here who know more than I. I'm just explaining what I use.

BTW, I only use Firefox to get access to postimages.org.

Devilsluck - I see that you have a pic of a target in the GTA media files. Since you uploaded it you may have access that is denied to me. Go to that pic, open it, go to Details in the lower right corner and see if you have access (since it's your file, you may have access). If you do have access, see what's in the details and look for a web address that starts with https: and ends with jpg or some other pic file extension. Then report back to me the results please. If you find that web address, copy/paste it in your reply.

When posting from my phone I have had good luck with downloading a picture resizer app. Resize the pictures and post them as you normally would

Chris - That may very well be the best option. I'm just being selfish and lazy, plus, I don't want anymore apps on my phone than I already have.

What I'm really trying to see here is if the GTA media file section is within itself a pic web hoster.

So bare with me here...
Once you upload it as an attachment here on GTA,
You can then "Click" on it and it brings up a sepparate tab (window) of your image with it's url address here on GTA. You can then copy that and imbed it using the

I just started my own GTA media album and I'm waiting for it to be "approved". I uploaded a file directly from my laptop, full size and it's there. I just can't link it and post like you can. Maybe it still needs to be approved.

My point is though, I didn't have to do any resizing to upload it to GTA media.
