When I got a spare Condor tank/valve from P/A about 2 years ago, I screwed it into the Condor to make sure it works. Filled it to 2500 psi, and took a few shots over the Chrono. My mouth dropped - 1st shot 1,060fps with JSB 33.9gr! I was like what? Is my Chrony working? 2nd shot 1055 or so.. I was only on PW 2 or so and not even on a 2800-3k fill. AF has changed their high flow valves the last ~3 years to put out more power. That's when I knew I had to do the o-ring mod with that tank - which btw is so simple to do, it's not funny..Harry
The escape has a small tank stock but you can get a 500 cc on aliexpress shipped for under $30.The other thing about the escape is the valve thread size is the 5/8 18unf ...not the M18 like most of the airforce guns.Yea if you want to keep it .22 then stay away from the Escape...I think it would be hard to find a pellet heavy enough to be accurate.Everything I shot under 30 gr broke the sound barrier in 25 cal.Id say the 22 would be close to the same! Its a heck of a gun though.I have 2 barrels for mine (he 25 un chocked and a 257) with 3 different valves+ tanks!I have one thats Regulated down for pellets around 25 gr or so.The stock valve that I use for 40-50 gr slugs at 900 fps and then A Regulated hybrid/mod valve that I Frankensteined a lil!I bought a cheap regulated Valve that never worked so I gutted it because the increased air surface (cause its a bigger valve)..bored it a little..new poppet and bigger valve stem...ect and it throws 72 gr slugs just under 1000 fps.Theses guns are very tune friendly
I am running an Escape UL with a 18 " .22 L/W unchoked barrel 14 twist shooting 50 gr. slugs 780 FPS, MOA @ 100+ yards, I am itching for a nice day to test the 30.gr BBT in it, might be just the ticket.
+1 for the Regular Condor with the 24" barrel. I do have a TalonTunes shroud/moderator and the tank adapter that lowers the tank about an inch. I don't have a chronograph so I can't quote numbers, but it seems to be the most consistent between 1900 and 2750 psi for me. power is turned all the way down to the stop and then back up a few digits. Haven't tried the o-ring. I had a "super sear" from arizona airguns installed for about an hour. I didn't like it so I put it back to stock.
The new Condors with the Ring-Loc valve kits are easy to ramp up or down in power, and mine does very well with 31 gn H&N Grizzley pellets at about 60 ft lbs. (around 950 fps) Plenty of power, good shot count, and hunter quiet with the Bulls Eye Bill shroud I have installed; and pellet costs don't break the bank.It can be cranked up to well over 100 ft lbs, but I haven't found the need for that much power in day to day hunting. Even at 60 ft lbs the Condor will put a smile on your face with each shot. I also owned an Escape (24 inch barrel) before the Ring-Loc valve came out, and it was a nice field gun but needed a de-tune for shot count and accuracy with mid weight .25 cal pellets. The RL valve will make that task much easier now, and if I were to go that route again, the 18 inch barrel might be my choice. In the north GA woods, I rarely get a shot at something more than 50 yards out (it disappears in the foliage) so 60 ft lbs is plenty of power for most mid size game I might come across.
