I'm up in the great white north,and the prices vary a bit up here..$545 to $599 fyi.
I think the cost to the retailer/ wholesaler is probably fairly fixed though.
I was lucky to get my gun they were scarce at the time too.
Tip:
One thing you will find is with the .22 cal pellets the gun is easy to load.
I usually plant the but of the gun in the front of the left hip ,cock with the left hand ,continue to hold the lever with the left and load the pellet with the right ,all the while the gun is almost vertical, surprisingly quick to load once you have the routine down.

Well, I will continue to search for one...have sent out a bunch of emails to check inventory...we'll see what shakes out. I did receive a pm suggesting that I consider a HW80 if I cannot find an HW77K....any experiences to share?

The HW 80 is a great gun,very accurate, go .22 cal ,seems the tuners are getting higher velocities out of them too.[i see 830's quoted with 14.3 pellets]
I am hoping to get one in the next week or so myself.
You may want to look at a Theoben Eliminator too

Yep I have 2 R1's and an HW80 all in .22cal w/a 20cal carbine barrel to boot! these gun's are awesome! I wouldn't part with the ones I have now, I've had several in the past that I've traded or sold but their definately keepers easy to shoot and very accurate!

I started with inexspensive one like the Crosman, then when I decided I liked it I went to a more expensive one. I forgot what brand it was and I am not at home to see. I looks like a miniature scope.

man you won't regret either hw, I am hopeing you wait to find the 77! It is fun just reading about you deciding, cuz I know I will be doing it some time soon as well.I really want a hw 80 or 95 as my next ag, I went back to the darkside with my disco (it is great) but my heart is with springers, nothing like them!!

Woody..Sorry to be so late answering you but my computer keeps kicking me offline. Every time I hit the keys, the message goes into cyberspace instead of here so I'll try this again...I have a Hawke 4-16x50 on my 52. I've had very good experiences with the Hawkes and I have several of 'em. The very few problems I've had were handled very quickly by their customer service. I don't think you'll go wrong with a Hawke.

Today I will hopefully get some replies from several vendors to my queries. I feel comfortable in narrowing down my choices to the HW line and specifiaclly the HW80 & HW77K. I noticed that the 80 used to come in a carbine model, but it is now discontinued.....shame. However, the 45" OAL of the full size HW80 is the same as my Panther so no surprises there should I go that route. I guess the final decision will boil down to how much patience I can muster and which I feel might be easier to load. I can barely spell the word let alone drum up a lot of it!!!!

Wood, yes I have tuned most of the rifles I own, The R1/HW80 guns are pretty straight foreward, the 77/97 is a little different. but I will give you something else to think about, the R1/ 80 guns are a 30mm compression tube vs a 26mm tube on the 77/97 gun, which makes the 30mm tube suited to be tuned to more power if so desired, but you want smooth power not all out power in one of these guns, HW80K's can still be had or you can buy a K model barrel with the cocking arm and rivet for about 125$ or you can have it chopped their lots of options here to get what you want out of these gun's! I personally like a carbine gun their easier to handle and the weight makes a difference when carring it in the woods on a hunt all day, the 77/97 are about 8.8lbs and theirs nothing you can really do about the weight of them where as you can get an R1/80 down to about 8lbs in carbine length, I'm about 6' 175lbs and I find the R1/80 carbines about perfect for me I personally wouldn't want a much bigger rifle size wise, the 77/97 guns are short 40'' but the carry the weight of a full size R1/80 rifle but either way you can't go wrong on what ever you decide but if you want a little more power IMO get the R1/80.

Mark, did the 80K come with sights? The pics that I have seen of a 80K were all scoped guns and had no sights......big compensator on the end of the barrel. I searched all over for an 80K and came up blank....do you know of any new ones available now?

DAK in Canada sells the 80k and it does come w/sights, JM has these guns from time to time, you'll just have to look around their out there allot of the Canadian shop do carry them,

Well, I have pulled the trigger on a new HW80 and anxiously await its arrival. I will post my impressions of my new blaster after I receive it and put a tin or two of pellets through it. Again, thanks to everyone that helped me make my choice!!!

Kelly, I went with the standard length...was not able to find a K in stock anywhere that I looked.....but, I think that I will actually prefer the standard over the K since it is 1" shorter than my Panther and I like the length of the Panther. I won't be doing much, if any, trekking through the woods....will shoot mostly on my own property. I shoot N-SSA competition....live fire competition with Civil War firearms...my goto is an 1858 Harpers Ferry Rifle. It has a 33" barrel and weighs over 9 lbs so I am used to length and barrel heavy guns. I am going to post over on the optics gate....am considering a red dot for my new rifle.

I am hoping that my HW80 will be here by Tuesday so as to minimize the little kid, new toy feeling, LOL.

While the beech stock may not appeal to walnut stock enthusiasts, it is one of the best stock woods available. A nice piece of beech is a beautiful piece of stock wood. Plain beech, like plain birch isn't pretty but is functionally all you could ever want in a gunstock. It's much more than perfect for an airgun stock.
My Weihrauch HW85 has a gorgeous beech stock. My HW30s has a nice beech stock. My Diana 48 has a rather plain beech stock, but they all work the same.
My Husqvarna M38 Swedish Mauser and my #4 Mk2 Fazakerly made British Enfield .303 rifles also have beech stocks. The Swede has a gorgeous stock, and the Enfields have nice ones.
My Chinese air rifles have beech stocks ranging from plain to very nice.
They all work very well.

Perhaps you could replace your open rear sight with a peep sight. It would help with your aging eyes. I'm almost to the point of needing to switch mine out for peeps.
