I've been searching for the detailed info that you have provided with just where the pellet is in relation to the trigger pull and piston action to sort out what is physically happening. Thank you I really appreciate your input and clarifying this process in my minds eye.
For now I am waiting for the repaired or replacement to arrive before taxing my brain further. Perhaps the only problem after resolving the scope issue is the rifle is defective, if so trying to improve or trouble shoot broken is fruitless.
I'll return to this with the results when I have the return from Crossman.
Should break barrels turn out to be "Not my cup of tea" I originally wanted the pcp marauder but was turned off by the total end price with all the extras. Air tank pump etc by reckoning the final price for an enjoyable setup will be close to 1,000 dollars in the long run what I'll save on pellets over bullets will eventually make the 1,000 a good investment.
Thanks everyone for your well-intentioned advice and opinions I certainly do appreciate your efforts on my behalf.
I'll be back to finish this discussion in a few weeks

I will start by saying that I have bought Benjamin NP's very cheap as a result of other peoples frustration and I have made them all shoot well....The number one issue that was present in all was a bad piston seal. I would say that they were all cut during the initial assembly. The repair requires deburring all the rough edges left from the stamping of parts., and the installation of new piston seals. I used the cheap Crosman seals. The second issue was the baffles in the shroud and the pellets hitting them. This is corrected by drilling the baffles larger and cleaning the plastic cuttings out. the third only happened on a Rushmore and that was that the scope rail was mounted on the receiver crooked. The scope had to be adjusted to far to one side and wouldn't retain zero. This was corrected with Weaver windage adjustable mounts....That Rushmore had all three issues.....In the end though these rifles all shoot very well. I will say that it is worth buying extra of the barrel pivot washers and just replacing them if you have the rifle apart for anything. You can do the brass but the Crosman parts are so cheap I just use them....

I received the replacement rifle from Crossman this afternoon. I first cleaned the bore then mounted the scope and fired a few crossman pellets. I must say after only 15 rounds there is a marked difference between the new and original. We made the correct decision with returning the original! When I received the advice to check all the screws on the rifle and scope I was a bit confused since after some 1,000 pellets the screws were as tight as when tightening them after installing the "Charlie Da Tuna" trigger. With the new after ten pellets the rear scope hood fell off and each 10 rounds would do it again. After 30 rounds the barrel mounting screws loosened as well as the scope mounts. the scope mounting screws are thumb type not hex with a warning not to over tighten. I'll blast through a couple hundred rounds this weekend and early next week go for some groups. I'll post the results next week.
On another note I am SUPER IMPRESSED with Crossman's customer service! I emailed them back after UPS wanted a few pennies less than 70 dollars for the return Crossman immediately sent me a free return label and shipped the replacement free. Included with the rifle was a brand new scope as well. 13 days total for the switch. Outstanding Service! I am a very happy camper and looking forward to shooting this new rifle.
Thanks everyone for all the good advice I learned a few break barrel procedures .
B67 good advice thanks. I just read your thread today. I'll keep it in mind if necessary after break in is finished.

I installed my "Charlie Da Tuna" trigger last night before going to sleep. I went out early this morning and banged out 30 more pellets It took a bit to get the feel of the trigger. Even though the stock trigger on this replacement rifle was adequate the tuna is so much better. Here is an image after thirty pellets +- 80 total since first shot.
Just for fun I installed the new scope Crossman sent. It took 20 pellets to get close to zero a few more clicks and I'll be spot on. The groups for a gun that has fired about 100 pellets isn't too shabby.
Now a bit of the recommended Practice Practice Practice and I'll be there.
BTW I'm using my Marine Corps skills not the artillery grip.

Good to hear (read?) Mike. I think it's accuracy will only improve as it fully breaks in. As for the stock screws, apply some blue locktite and leave the rifle alone for 24 hours. Dunno what pellets you're using but my .22 Crosman/Benji break barrels seem to do best with JSB 15.89 gr.

Yes Ed, Very Good! I am really pleased with the new gun. A completely different animal. I am now enjoying myself immensely.
I just ordered a tin of 500 of the JSB 15.89gr thanks for the tip. Playing around this afternoon with the gun I couldn't help but notice a difference in the breech fit of the pellets. After supper I weighed a few of the vortex supreme 14.66 gn the weights were anywhere from 16.7gn to 17.1gn with the majority at 17.1 I matched 10 pellets at 17.1gn with these results at 25 yards 5 pellets each target:
I was tired and rushed the target on the right the one on the right the target on the left is more like a Marine the scope was adjusted right after. LOL what a big difference from the first images I posted from the returned gun and as you stated not even broken in yet I'm through around 100 or so pellets so far.
