Wow I can’t believe Crosman is testing each fortitude and sending a test target with each rifle.

From the Ham article

The factory test target gives an indication of accuracy and Muzzle Velocity. Five shots at 10 yards with Crosman 14.3 Grain domed pellets were clocked at “730s FPS”. HAM likes it that an individual factory test target is supplied with each Fortitude!

I would imagine that it cost them a boat load of money recalling all of the rifles last year and this is also good PR for them and a way to regain trust from the consumers (us). I missed that part in the article. I think that's awesome. Way to go crosman.

FWIW: The accuracy cards were included with Gen 1, but without the hand print of speed and pellet. At 10yds, it should be a single pellet hole. Hard to really see the HAM one, but looks to be a large cloverleaf. See mine below:

Thankfully that test doesn't matter.

That's because the 50 yard independent testing showed incredible accuracy. Without searching, I seem to remember ~3/4" groups at 50 yards.

I hear this alot... sub 1" at 50 yds..

Is 3/4" accuracy good enough to humanely dispatch a squirrel at 50 yds ? Seems to me you could completely miss the heart and lung or head shot.

By no means meant to slam the Fortitude or any other rifle.

I'm mostly interested in getting it for my wife to use. Trying to get her more involved with my air gun hobby/obsession lol. Plus Boyds has a new thumbhole "at one" stock that'll fit this rifle. It will be a nice little plinker with the stock upgrade and scope for around $600 total. And at 50-60 shots it will be nice. As far as shooting it out past 25-35 yards, that's what I would use the marauder or armada for.

well 800 fps in .22 with 14.3 Should be just enough that puts it right about with the Gamo Urban for power...with a longer barrel and larger air tank and a reg... glad they listened about it needing a bit more fpe in .22...

one more thing that John could do is to talk them into to using a new chamber cutting tool and cut a leade while creating the chamber...fins at the back of the skirt from hard edged rifling is not conductive to accuracy... a decent leade also helps prevent pellet pickyness...

Every Crosman barrel I have(including the .25 Mrods) has had to have me give it a leade... Every time it has improved the barrel...such a small change...

I love the new in house barrels...

but they should not come with a chamber that ends with hard edged rifling... just change the tooling guys... I am pretty sure for pellets it does not need to be a 1* leade... heck even just 30* or a rounding of the edge helps from my experiments...the pellet is swagged into the rifling instead of being cut by it...eg no fins on the skirts base...

it is not even an extra step to the barrel making process... you have to cut a chamber anyways... that tool can cut a leade at the same time...

such a small finishing touch on the barrel that makes a very big difference...

So John learn from Harry Pope... the base of the round is very important...

Very interesting info. Maybe with the quality of air rifles being produced now a days crosman will start adding these extra touches to their finished products just to stay in the game.

The Fortitude Gen2s went out to some reviewers after passing the QA testing. We should start shipping product shortly.

We put targets in with our PCPs to show they run good. We were already testing every one for accuracy so we figured we might as well share the info. The .177 are tested with either 7.9g or 10.5 depending on the gun. The .22 are tested with our 14.3g pellets and the .25 with our 27.9g pellets.

I will talk to our tooling guys about a better leade in into the rifling. I appreciate the heads up!

25 caliber? What kind of shot count and what type of energy will it have? That's even more tempting than the 22 caliber.

Well, technically it was .69 ctc.... But 4 out of the 5 passed through the same hole at 50 yards.

I saw somewhere today that they were expected to be in stock April 5 at Pyramyd Air. I went looking for it again and couldn't find it. I think it was at the end of the HAM article.
