Hi guys,
Thinking about picking up a Talos BTR 4-14×44 APLR2 FFP IR MIL. I'd like to push some pellets down range and test out the Reticle and seeing if it's any good. Curious to know if anyone here has used one and what you might think of it.
Amazon has a couple negative reviews but their complaints seem to be about the Windage and elevation knobs. For me I'm much more interested in the Grid reticle. If the Grid Reticles are so awesome and spot on then why the *(&^ would you need to install it in a scope that has large target or tactical turrets on it. Seems to me that all you need are standard windage and elevation knows and once it's zeroed in screw the caps back on because you will be using the Grid reticle system. I mean what the *(&^ is the point of having EXPENSIVE turrets and an expensive "Grid Reticle"
Seems to me that if you have one you won't really need the other until you reach the limits of your Grid.

I really like the grid. I don't often shoot past 50 yards, but its really nice for multi range silhouette, or general hunting.
At 4-14, I find the reticle to not me a whole lot of use until about 8x, otherwise its just too faint to use with great precision.
At 8-12x it is pretty nice, at 14x the image gets a little less sharp on mine.

I've had a Talos BTR (and Midas BTR) for quite a while now. The talos is on a QB78.
The reticle is nice. It's so very easy to adjust zero for different pellets or yardage. Shoot a shot, use the grid to measure the difference between POI and POA, adjust with turrets, next shot will be right on.
Or just just the reticle for hold over.
The turrets are a bit mushy, but they aren't any worse than any other cheap scope. My only real complaint is the AO knob is a little tough to turn.
Bottom line, I'd buy another.
Fyi, the Midas BTR's (nicer overall but SFP vs FFP of the talos btr) can be had for less than the price of the Talos BTR from places like cameralandny, and others. I'm very tempted to get another one of those.
