Recently it has come to my attention that there is a design flaw in the magazine on many Daystate guns including the new Red Wolf. The lever mechanism which advances the magazine actually strikes the side of the pellet probe as it cycles. As well as affecting accuracy it also creates physical damage to the probe itself. I own both a Renegade and a Pulsar HP, and the pellet probe on each is damaged.
I encourage anyone who owns a Daystate to inspect their gun for damage and to report it to the manufacturer if present. You can access the Technical Enquiry form on the Daystate website.
The images below are of the pellet probe on my Renegade. There is similar damage on my Pulsar HP. Both guns suffer from accuracy problems when using the magazine.

Hey Hawkeye !!
I just want to go on record as saying I have both the Red Wolf and Pulsar with same mark on bolt. The only difference is a 40 yards both my Daystate's are a ragged hole with magazine.
This doesn't mean that the magazine causing the abrasion does not need investigated. I have over 8K shots thru my Daystate Pulsar (see photo). It is deadly accurate with magazine in .25 cal. Still would like to know what is causing abrasion on bolt.
Be safe !!

Apparently the lever in the magazine that cycles the rotation is hitting the pellet probe. Obviously more contact for some than for others. Both my guns are less than a year old and show more damage than yours.

Probably the photo quality. If the abrasion is caused by the magazine and I always use the magazine, so nearly 100% of my shots are using a mag. Only have 2 tins through the Red Wolf, but 15-20 tins thru the Pulsar.
We will see what Daystate powers at be say hopefully.

I have an Air Ranger, and I eagerly looked for this issue on my gun as I suffer from accuracy issues with the magazine - but I don't see it on mine. I was hoping it was there, as the gun stacks pellets with the single shot tray / Rowan single loader, but groups worse and throws flyers with any of 3 different style mags I have (all disassembled and cleaned up / polished).
Maybe there is something different in the mags and the lever functioning between our guns, but I while I do see the lever in the magazines (all three) and how it protrudes into the area where the bolt travels through the mag, I don't see how the lever can hit the bolt probe at all - in mine, the lever only advances once the bolt is fully retracted out of the mag. I will say that I do see that on the newest style mag that I have - the one that came out with the Wolverine, and the one with the black cylinder in the attached photo of all three - the lever does protrude into the mag path when retracted after the last shot, but ONLY AFTER the last shot - I don't see it happen on any other chamber in the magazine, or on the other magazines.
The second photo is this magazine showing a clear path on the cylinder for the last pellet to be shot as indexed into firing position (with no pellet), and then the third photo is the same cylinder after pressing the index one more time, such as when cocking the gun to remove the magazine - if the probe were pushed back closed like this, then there would be contact with that lever.

I wonder if it has to do with the air powered system of advancing the mag's in the New Models.
I do know that I have had several guns that had poorer accuracy when using the mags. I went in and took one wind out of the spring, and accuracy improved on everyone of them. Seems the pellets were getting damaged by the sudden stop associated with the stiff spring set. One was an AirWolf MCT.

Alan not sure what to tell you. I have 4 magazines and I actually can't tell the difference in Mags and SST. Some tests have shown the mags to be more accurate. As expensive as the mags are it is amazing that Daystate has not perfected the loading. What calibre is your Air Ranger?

I also wonder like Knife said about the “pressure” system in some of the models that prevent the anti double feed. I have a Regal with no anti double feed and have no blemishes on the probe.

M,
My Air Ranger is a .22 caliber 50 FPE model. I have tuned it up and down in power, and I get the same poor mag results with all pellets at all power levels. I currently have it tuned to shoot AA 16 grain pellets at ~900 FPS, and it simply stacks them when run single shot, but my Marauder can out shoot the Air Ranger with magazines (and of course the Marauder is the same single shot or with magazines, thus no where near as good as the Air Ranger in single shot use).
