What Did You Cast Today ???

I am going to need feedback on the NOE 358-152 on things like did I get the diameter right.  I can have Al adjust the 'tolerance' to cast a few .0001 larger BUT I wanted just minimal sizing down to .358 (just enough to 'true' to round) so what mine are casting work/chamber/shoot right I think.  But I want to know what those who bought the mold think since if I get another batch of molds made they are 'imoroved' if necessary (which might require another $300 cherry so it's possible but would require a big needed change for me to consider).
I already know that the cherry did not get ground to spec on the bore ride below the nose, it's a little oversize... but sitll shooting VERY good in several rifles.
So, feedback please.

If you want to just enlarge the diameter, Al can interpolate the circular milling out to a larger path.... All diameters increase by the same amount, of course....

NOE make one of their 6mm bullets using the cherry for the .224 that way.... and often do things like create a 0.228" from 0.225" tooling, during the same Group Buy....

Yup, that's what I meant by "adjust the tolerance".
Interesting though, I did not know he could do it that large.

Oh, I have not asked him about the .25 bullets we did the survey thread about in our phone conversations because I thought it would be impolite to you as you were in charge of that... hope they come out soon

There has been a production delay at NOE.... but it is my understanding they are again on top of things and new product should be appearing soon.... I think the first design with the small diameter RG pins will be the .225/.228 cal 57 gr. that is currently in last call.... All going well, others should follow....

Hey Carl I cast some with my new 358-152 the other day using my calipers they measured 359-359.5 if this is what your looking for haven't had a chance to shoot them yet.

Seems perfect, for what I think is best for most .35 airgun barrels that is.  So it will size for a bit larger barrel .358 but not get too much for sizing down to .3565 for a tight barrel.... others opinions may vary on that though.  I'm against big size amounts.
What temp did you use, what alloy and what weight did you get?

Just cleaned the mold, got the pot warming up with the ladle in it, it won't be long now, more of my 19.6 grainers, I simply love them pellets.  It's getting to be a toss up between the choice between the 217-24 mold or the 217-20 mold because they both cast some extremely accurate pellets.

My digital HF calipers are mostly worthless, but what I can do is use them for comparison.

I slugged my Bulldog barrel, then compared the slugs sized with the Lee dies, 357 and 358, the 358  sized bullets slugs were .0005 over the slug diameter on the  Bulldog barrel slug with Accurate 360-120 mold.

So for my Bulldog, I use the .358 Lee sizer and have no idea what the real diameter is as Lee sizer dies in my experience hardly ever reflect the number stamped on them, I just know the bullet I send down the barrel is .0005 over the barrel slug diameter and that is just about perfect.

I ended up casting .25 Hunters instead because after I cleaned the mold all up to cast with I realized it wasn't my 217-20 mold so I went ahead and cast the 250-27-RF making 26 grainers, only had 4 rejects from the entire batch of 388 which is really good.

Wayne, are you having to size all these pellets you're making?

No I don't resize any of the pellets that I cast with my NOE molds.  They all seem to shoot really great right from the mold, I don't think you can really resize them anyway   I think the spec's are really close to what JSB head and tail diameters are anyway.

Keith you wouldn't believe how accurate my 19.6 grainers are in my most recent purchase, a non warranty Nova Liberty I bought for $107.50 shipped, I knew that my 23 grain for the Magnum Hunter mold were super accurate but these 217-20-RF pellets are also very accurate as well.  I won't even bother buying any more JSB18.13's because my 19.6 grainers shoot just as good if not better in all my .22's.

I believe you.  I just checked the NOE site for a pellet mould for my 25 Synrod.  There are no moulds available in 34gr plus.  I think that was why I ordered the slug instead, plus the higher BC, which is not doing so well in my choked barrel.  Maybe they will get restock someday so I can try them instead.

Keith they've been out of the .22 and .25 pellet molds for quite a while now, I haven't heard anything about when they'll be making more but it would seem like they'd be right on it as fast as they sold out.

I do believe there is something in the works for a new pellet.  I remember a poll about it a while back.  I think it was for a pellet mould around 35gr or 37gr.  I haven't heard much lately about it.

My 20 grain pellets make one hole groups at 12 yards from my Mm TJ barreled prod without sizing.

I just put them in a ziplock after weighing, add three drops of 30 weight silicone oil and gently roll them back and forth, then shoot them directly from the ziplock.

I would love to try 30 plus grains in my Skyhawk when JSAR is finished with it.  I am asking for 34 FPE with the 20 trainers, so it should handle the 33 grainers also.

RC mine all weigh right around 19.6 grains and man are they accurate out of the Nova Liberty, I bought one of the non warranty ones,  I ordered one of the non warranty Freedoms in .22 yesterday and I'm sure they'll be just as accurate out of that gun too.  Here's a pic of 25 shots through my Crosman 150 this morning with them.
