For tips on smelting, melting, casting and such. Haven't seen anything to sticky in the new gate, but this should be a candidate. As soon as I can get the whole book under the size limit, I'll get it put up. Enjoy.

Yeah, after trying saw dust a few years ago, I'll never use anything else again.

Tried them all.
Started with Alox 50-50, paraffin, bees wax, saw dust and a few others.
Bought some Marvelux and never looked back ...

Guys, Sawdust and marvelux do two completely different things. As does wax. There is so much I could write about the difference here and what they do, but it would take a page. LOL
(Want to avoid the high price of Marvelux, go to wally work and pick up a box of pure Borax laundry soap. Cheap, and is basically the same product, and works just as well, About a buck 90 for double the amount in the Marvelux jar.)

There are fluxes that are reducers and fluxes that are cleaners. Not the same! Yes, I know what a true flux is, but unfortunately, in bullet casting, the term is used loosely. Just as the term smelting is. We don't really smelt metal either, but it is what it is. LOL
Sawdust for the large pot for remelting scrap will reduce it an clean. BUT, can reallly mess up a poor for casting.
Wax will bring surface tin back into the melt. Marvelux will clean impurities, and block oxygen from causing a lot of dross. It will also capture any tin on the surface. Rendering it useless however.
Far too much confusion about fluxes. Study Sirs! Go to castboolits and really research and pay attention to fluxes.
