.25 green mountain barrel from crosman

Does anyone know the twist rate of the .25 gm barrel? Planning a new project.

where did you read that evey where I have read is 1:15.5   that is about what I get checking...

I am averaging about 1-15.55- 1-17, then again, that is from marauders ranging from 2012 until now. I will have to run some through each barrel tomorrow and report back. I just don't see it as a 1-19 though, not even close.

I have one in hand, using a cleaning rod and a tape measure it seems pretty close to 1:19" 

I don't do this for a living but 3 attempts come up with the same measurement plus or minus a half inch.

Gotcha, everything I am reading is saying a 1-15.5 to 1-16. Wonder what has changed since all my barrels seem to differ as well. Strange since they come from Green Mountain.

Understood.  I can say for certain this particular barrel is no where near 1:15-16.

Gotcha, not debating it at all. Just wondering what is up with GM to have such a change over time.

Well the one I checked was My wood stocked 4/15 Synrod... I checked from the breech end with the barrel off the rifle... need to pull the barrel on the 6/16 syrod for finishing touch on the leade for the 40g BBT so  I will check it tomorrow... funny never checked it but have pulled it for work a couple times...

I'm not above saying that I could be "doing it wrong", but this barrel definitely seems closer to 1:19-20 vs 1:15-16.

I will go ahead and pull my four tomorrow. One is a 2012, one 2013, one 2014 and a 2016. I will check my buddies 2014 as well as a 2016 that is coming this week. Perhaps they are ALL different. I suppose that if we each measure the twist from each year we have access to it will at least give a more accurate representation overall if for nothing more than future reference.

I sure appreciate all the trouble you guys are going to for me. Seems the 1-14 twist of the RS is just too fast for the bullets I want to shoot in it. Thought a GM barrel might be a way to go.


Would make fitting a barrel a lot simpler! Not to mention much less coin.

I too am interested...  The .25 GM barrel always seems to shoot well with many different projectiles be they pellets or various cast.  So it's interesting to see if GM or Crosman is changing the twist rate... 

I too will be using a GM barrel for a a build that's still on-going...  This will be very interesting!

The 2012 and 2013 both measure at 16.5" and 17" respectively. The 2014 measured to 15.5. The 2016 measures 17.5". Apparently there is some minor differences. Also, the 2014 that belongs to a buddy does not group as tight as the others. Interesting to say the least. My question is how does a well reputable company like Green Mountain have such differences? Perhaps the persons setting up the machinery are not doing it exactly the same with each run.

just measured mine that is retrofit into my WarP ....... as stated 1 in 19 is what it measures.

 Checked two new barrels on the shelf 1 in 19. Brand new uninstalled barrels.
