First trip over to the dark side.

For my first foray to the dark side I just ordered a Hatsan Flashpup. Is there anything I should watch out for or any advice for a newb? It comes with a free hand pump so that's what I am going to be using to fill it.

Funny you should say that, im fighting the urge to pick up one of the Nova Vista rifles while they are on sale. For some reason the wife doesn't think it's a good idea.

I just bought "her" a little XS12 springer that she has only shot once.

Good, she already has one to shoot, then you can keep both the other ones for yourself. Buy it, I love mine and would do it again in a split second and at 20% off nows the time before the code no longer works.

Welcome to the Dark Side!! Things to do, buy plenty of pellets because you will likely shoot a LOT more than before! Never let your significant other shoot it unless you are either willing to give it to them, or you are willing to buy another!!

I like it.  I have tweaked the regulator and shimmed the hammer spring and am getting some good numbers from it. Shooting .177 8.49 grain H&N Sniper Mediums I'm averaging 1,065.60 FPS for a nice 21.44 FPE!  Not bad for a .177!

I just bought "her" a little XS12 springer that she has only shot once.

First thing to do is make sure you have a wide variety of pellets in different weights.

Second thing is get your wife a CO2 repeater; a springer is no way to introduce a stranger to shooting airguns.

I have to admit I'm excited, ive been avoiding it for so long but 15% off and free pump pushed me over the edge. I just wish I hadn't seen the liberty for 20% off after I placed my order.

Ups says the flashpup will be here Wed. I have some store credit at aoa and I am considering picking up a Guantlet from them but I am curious how hard the gauntlet would be to fill via a hand pump.

My rifle showed up yesterday and although pumping is a little harder than expected I totally should have picked up a pcp years ago. The flash pup is an accurate little gun that's a hoot to shoot.

That's great to hear.  Spend some quality time with it, find what it likes to shoot, and spend some coin on a chronograph, and then you can really start digging into performance.  Hatsans tend to be powerhouses with overhead to improve upon.
