Planning to scope the Diana 35

I believe I remember someone mentioning that there isn't a pin stop on the rail of a Diana 35, and I want to scope mine. What are the options for doing this? I'll probably put my Leapers GI 4x32 on it for now, until I find a scope that I think is better suited. Since there isn't a pin stop function, and I'm assuming that this rifle has a good bit of recoil, how do I keep a scope from migrating on the rail? I bought some rings a couple of days ago, but is there a better option that I'm not aware of?

You can reverse a one-piece base and hang the stop pin over the front edge of the rail.  Old school trick for Diana's.  That big, fat flat-headed screw on the rear of the later rails is for a peep sight and will shear off if used as a scope stop.  You can also buy a scope stop.  I just bought a Beeman Professional off of the Yellow yesterday.  Very compact, flat and will lock down tight.  Can't find a scope stop?  Double the rear ring or cut down a ring and use the base for a stop.  The Gamo stops will work but they are kind of cheesy, being largely plastic.

  Hey Redfeather,  found several of the old style beeman stops like the one you bought off the yellow(good price btw) at a local gun store.  Do they still hold tight when you can't use the built in stop pin?  Thought about buying all of them since they arn't making them anymore.  J

So, is the migration of a scope typically to move backward on the rail? Am I understanding you correctly?

Yes, the heavier they are, the more they will creep back.

Red is right on the heavier the scope the more likely it will creep back without a scope stop. I have found over the years that when there is no stop pin available on some medium and low powered springers that the BKL Cantalever mounts work great. They are light weight and lock down very nicely. You actually have to spread the mount to put it on the 11 mil rails. They are kinda pricy but have worked great for me. This way you can have a light weight scope that won't cause mount to creep.
