The Fruit of my Casting Labor

I'm really enjoying the time I'm spending casting. It makes me feel way less guilty about plinking, as my lead is just tire weight lead that cost almost nothing from the tire shop, heavily separated and slagged best I could get it. It seems like I got at least one good shooting load for each of my big bores and my magnum .25. Although I don't have any of my .25s BBTs cast.

From left to right and top to bottom:

217 grain NOE BBTs for my .45 Texan SS, sized to .457.

60 grain NOE BBTs for my Long Flex with the Cothran valve, sized to .300.

145 grain Lee (or Lyman?) 45-70 Button Collar bullets for my brother's .45 long Texan (my SS can't decide whether it likes them or not), sized to .457.

58 grain NOE Bob's .300/.308 pellets.

97 grain NOE .308 bullets (identical to the NSA 99s?) (.309 at the moment, but will be sized to .308 before being shot).

The NEW 45 grain NOE Bob's Hunter pellets.

Please note that all of the weights are my actual weights with my alloy, which doesn't necessarily match the advertised weight with pure lead.



I have not tried the 45 gns yet. Those are primarily for my Short Flex which is set for 74fpe. If they perform well, those will become my plinking round. I'll save SO much money over .30 JSBs.

Not pictured are  the .25 BBTs, which both mine and my brother's .25 Condor loves. However, I've got my Condor set for under 60fpe so I gave all of my .25 bullets to him, who is running his 2018 stock Condor at 120fpe.

Are going to try the new NOE 300-46 Mold? I Just got one delivered for a pending Marauder .30 conversion.

Bob I've been tossing up the idea of getting me a 30 cal, possibly one of the Evanix rifles I'm thinking.  I'm wanting something that's capable of dispatching a coyote at 50+yards reliably for them skitish critters.  There's a lot of them on that preserve that I hunt and there's been several people that have complained about them, especially the people that run their rabbit dogs there, it's a problem.

Wayne, I have been wanting a .30 for a long time and almost purchased a Rainstorm II in .30 but decided to convert my Mrod over since I found it too heavy to carry in the woods. I'm doing it piece mail, I just received the barrel and bolt sleeve and now I'm saving up for a SS valve in order to get it to 80 FPE. I have a large Coyote that has been hanging around my house all summer so I have been very cautious when leaving the house in the early mornings. Last year there was a pack of 4 walking past my house, cars and people don't phase them.

Yep! The bottom right pellets are the NOE 300-46. They are coming out 45 grains with my alloy. I use tire weights that I’ve heavily slagged and cut with pure lead. That tin is my first casting.

I’m eagerly awaiting the .45 version of that same pellet mold.

I’m strongly advocating people experiment with a .308 Texan SS as a .300 pellet shooter. Mine shoots pellets as if that’s what it was made for. As far as I know I’m only one of two or three people on the forums who own one and I haven’t heard anyone else talk about trying 45 grain JSBs and Polymags like I have. I think the gun has the potential of dethroning the .30 Rainstorms as the king of .30 power guns, where 140fpe is its upper limit for pellet power but can still adjust back down to more normal .30 pellet powers of 80 and 90fpe.

Those look great Travis. I just received the .30 cal. this week and looking forward to some serious casting. I am having excellent results with the newest .25 cal mold. Will be purchasing the .35 soon as soon as I can get some funds. I to would love to see a .45 version of that mold as well.

The next mold that I'll be buying will be the .22 Hunters when they show up in the store, it's basically the same design in .22 like my 250-27-RF mold which is an excellent mold that produces fantastic shooting pellets for something lighter than the Magnum Hunters.  They've all got the purpose though because I use them all.  I've got a bunch of the 250-34-RF pellets cast up right now that shoot very well out of a gun that's tuned for heavy stuff.

The ones that I've been using the most of are the 217-24-RF in my Airmax Dominator.  I'm shooting them at just under 900fps and they're extremely accurate in it.

The .30 AF shoots like the pellets were made for it because that is exactly what AF did. Gave us a .30 pellet barrel, is what was supposed to be a High Power bullet shooter. Trying to get AF to listen to shooters is next to impossible, and explains why so many are disappointed itn the accuracy or the AF .30.

I sure do like those "Collar Buttons", second one down/left side.

I wish Noe made those in 22 cal.

I have the same mold in 45 cal ACP pistol (Lyman mold) and is a great accurate shooter etc.

I hope, that if any of mine turn out as nice, I'll be tickled pink etc.
