It's a shame the buy-in for a 499 is as high as it is- retailers get somewhere around $140 plus shipping. I sometimes see used 499s on GB and other auction sites or classifieds and often they are being sold for more than a new gun costs, but you may get lucky and spot a bargain. And then there's the option of building one from a pile of parts.I like to shoot at distances a lot further than 5m, so I swapped out the stock 499 spring for one from a new production Red Ryder.
