Well, all the work to my Bulldog has paid off.
Headshot, DRT, 75 yards, 1 mil holdover, NSA 130gr hollow point, 250 FPE. He went stiff and fell over.
Thanks JSAR and Pitbull for parts.
Thanks NSA for the great ammo.
200+ pounder. I was holding the Bulldog above him for the photo, due to the mud, so this is the best shot I could take with one hand.
Edit: I had a little time today, so posted the story in post #14.

Thanks guys.
Story time:
I crept up on this guy when we first went out to the feeder and blind area, having spotted his black silhouette from up the trail. I decided to move in closer, rather than risk scaring him off getting into the blind. He spooked with me at 45 yards, when I was still behind some bush, though I was moving very slowly and quietly hunched down. I went ahead and made my way closer, and he appeared again just as I was about to kneel into position at 30 yards, from the side of the bush. My heart was racing, since these guys can charge you sometimes. He was a loner on his own. I was just slowly easing my knee down and his head snapped up, eyes locked on mine. I froze and didn't even blink, but 1 second later, he bolted. I thought, well that's the last of him. After a few minutes, I made my way all the way back to the elevated, permanent blind 75 yards out from where we have a feeder. I sat back, and waited 20 minutes. Nothing. I pulled some peanut butter crackers out, and some water. I was just about to take a bite, when here he comes out of the thickets. I slowly put my snack down and picked up the Bulldog. I eased into a seated shooting position. His head was down, and he was a bit behind a bush. I waited, and checked his exact range on my scope mounted range finder. 75 yards; exactly the distance that I had been practicing the day before after zeroing the scope. After only a minute or two, he took a few steps forward into clear sight. I checked my cant from the bubble level out of the corner of my eye, he put his head down to eat, and the holdover was correct. I eased my finger back and sent the slug home.

Glad you were able to redeem with a shot after all! What caliber is your gun? Not enough people kill these things and I hope more people start because the help is really needed. They sure do a lot of damage. I've seen some people shoot hogs in the neck right behind the head but that destroys a lot of the neck meat.
I had one hog turn and face me with his head held high trying to wind me like that last year but I shot him in the heart before he had the chance to bolt. He was in my back yard 35yds away tagged with my Mini-14. Your gun would kill a hog with a straight on heart shot like that if you get the chance to fire before one bolts next time.

Yah that would definitely kill a hog via heart shot. You ought to try a shoulder shot and see what the internal damage is after going through that thick armor of bone if you haven't tried killing one that way with it yet thinking the shield may prevent much damage to heart and lungs from a side shot.

I might try a shoulder (spine), heart, and/or lung shot at some point. One of the reasons for switching to airguns was to see if I could quietly put one down and not scare the others off too much. With the head shot, they just drop quietly. Anything else and there is definitely a lot of squealing!

Great story and very nice smack with that Bulldog. My heart would be out of my throat at 30 yards w/a 200+ lb pig!
