air Venturi must be able to get parts as I ordered a new poppet for my Liberty from PA and it came today. It's actually for the Seneca Aspen but exactly the same. I realize that this poppet still has the softer material in it than delrin or peek but if it lasts me a year like my old one did that will be fine for the price. Installed it this afternoon and am pressure testing it now. I need to order a custom one from Duy but already had this one on order and didn't want to cancel the order. I just hope it holds air ok.

Was that a special order from PA, tracker1955?
Asking because out of curiosity I searched the PA  website for Aspen parts.
It turned up magazines & a fill probe only
I was hoping there would be a number of parts in stock

Checked the rifle this morning and it's still holding air but have not fired it yet. The one I repaired with Delrin I got from a GTA member held air initially, but then leaked after firing. Try as I might I was never able to fully stop the leak but could shoot it normally as long as I was actively shooting.

Keep in mind that I asked for the poppet for an Aspen, not a Liberty. It came with a new valve spring and two orings that were for the Aspen.

Delrin will work but that stuff is soft and needs to be ultra fine polished. you should also check the sealing surface of the valve too. make sure it doesnt have nicks. most of them have some kind of nick and requires polishing too.

usually firing will make the poppet seal after a while due the indention made from firing action. just like burnishing it.

i have found the best way to remedy the leaking poppets to be Polishing peek or delrin. and if you have access to a lathe. counter sink the valve and use peek...best sealing and long lasting solution.

Where is the best deal on buying PEEK rod ?  I figure that 3/8" rod would be the best to order however someone might suggest something else

I checked the raised rim on the valve face for nicks, used strong LED light and magnifying glasses. Also tested with a Q-tip.

I suspect the leaking is from around the stem with the through hole.  While all the ones in my gun are holding, in the future will go with a blind hole and no can, and a shortened stem.   I have made one like that, and it works as well. 

I agree with Duy, it is very easy to get a nick in that valve seat.  I had the C clip come off and jam under the poppet creating one.  I was able to see it with a light.

I bought peek and Delrin rod in 12" lengths off Amazon.  I haven't tried working with Peek yet.

if the valve rim is good then check and polish the poppet with 600-1000-1200-2000-3000 grit, then dry fire 100shots or so. usually that will take care of it.  if it doesnt, then you burnish.

you can test after polish by assemble the poppet and valve, put it in your mouth and blow...quick way to test for leaks before assemble in breech...

blind hole is the best sure way. get rid of the can.

you should work with peek Fuzzy, throw delrin away, thats how good peek is

 I think I'll give ATI a call next week and see if I can't snag me another wood Liberty, I'm done tinkering with the one that I have.  I still haven't opened up the barrel port yet, it's just shooting so darned good the way it is right now.

Not quite 24 hours since filling the air tube yesterday but was still holding perfectly, couldn't wait any longer so opened my window to shoot before the rain starts. A quick zero after having reseated the scope, then hole in hole at 30 yards, then smacking my 1/2" spinner over and over. This rifle is so accurate that most shooting inside 50 yards becomes boring. Even my new paintball rack at 40 yards is almost too easy. Now if I can get my new Rainstorm to shoot anything close to this my universe will be complete, I just don't want to have to tune it down too far.

Tom even when I'm shooting mine out in the woods being all weebly wobbly it's still a jaw dropper, very accurate.  Just got done casting about 400 more good pellets to feed it some more.  I'm actually getting a decent stockpile of the 19.6 grainers now, I can probably get out the wad cutter mold for my Crosman 150's now, they just gobble up those wadd cutters with very good results

That Avenger looks interesting but it is also kind of ugly and cheap looking, wish it looked better.  I have grown to like the styling of my Snythetic Liberty.

I decided to quickly see what kind of group I could get from my Liberty to make sure there weren't any accuracy/barrel issues, mainly have just been shooting coke cans standing up and getting some velocity numbers with different pellets.  I put up a target about 20 yards away, drew my own filled in black circle about the size of a half/silver dollar on a envelope, sat down on the steps with the gun resting on a sock bag of aquarium gravel.  I just used Crossman 14.3 Domes, barrel has never been cleaned and has had over 130 pellets through it, was using open sites/no scope.  My point of aim was not great, basically had a general point where I would try to hold each time, slightly pulled one.   Took 4 or 5 shots and was absolutely shocked and very pleasantly surprised seeing a ragged single smaller then dime sized group with OPEN SITES!!  I didn't expect that considering I wasn't really holding exactly the same spot for each shot as the circle looked so small from 20 yard away.  I never shot that tight of a group at 20 or 25 yards with open sites, normally don't even do it with a scope at 25 yards aside from a handful of times with small caliber scoped firearms.  I can definitely see how people with this gun are getting single hole groups with scopes at 25 even 40 yards especially with higher quality pellets and could see 100 yard groups around a inch if you get pellet selection, weight, velocity, scope right.

I was at Lowes yesterday, saw a rubber mulch like mat that I guess goes around a plant/small tree and was wondering if that material would be any good at stopping pellets or better then wood/fiber board that doesn't do much good.  The mats were around $5.

 They also have rubber paver blocks, I would double them up just to be safe, I have a pellet trap made out of old cow/horse rubber matting that has been stopping even my 50 FPE slugs so far, I'm testing in a safe location on the farm I work on. There is also the bags of rubber mulch that work great and self heal, so to speak.

Yeah, the rubber mulch in a 5 gallon bucket works well! Stops 60 fpe .25 pellets no problem.

I was out shooting my Liberty today again, the gun is very accurate and I managed to get a couple of chippers with it, didn't see any red squirrels though.

In the past week I have killed 5 Chipmunks with a Nova Vista Freedom .177 at ~45-~50 yards.

No, I can't claim head shots, but they were all DRT even using low power, ~720fps ~12fpe at the muzzle with 10.5 CPUM pellets.

I know this is not a Liberty, but I just thought I should post it in this thread since there is little being posted about the accuracy of the Freedom/Aspen lately.

Kerry, i have been killing birds at 75 yards with Freedom bottle conversion. i know i mentioned it before too, accuracy is good with crosman HP 14.3gn
