Probably going to just shoot heavier pellets. I've turned the HS adj down as far as it goes hoping it would slow it down some.

After it sits for a while, is the first shot slow or faster than the rest? Can help you tune that out if you'd like. 30fps is a bit much. But that could have been because you just filled it.

I fire one blank shot first before doing shot strings now. The 1st shot is almost always higher than the string if I don't. I changed out the poppet from the short stem peek poppet to a delron long stem poppet Duy made for me. Was finally able to get it to seal and dang if it didn't make the rifle a little more air conserving. I did put a washer in between the poppet and the spring so it will have a little more pressure to seal the poppet but also so the poppet will close faster. Funny thing is is, the JSBs 18r pellets were going just as fast but not using anywhere near the amount of air as it was before. Haven't had a chance to do a full shot string but turning the HS adj does have an effect on the velocities where before it was backed out as far as it could go and had no effect where it was set. I think the sail is going to help conserve air while still giving the power. The stem on the peek poppet ended up to short when I shortened it being shorter than the stock poppet length. Hammer is still sliding in the receiver like it should so I think that problem is solved for now.

That's the reg creep. Now, you can tune that out if you'd like. You need to balance the hammer strike to the reg creep and find the middle ground. I often pest at 50 plus yards and my first shot most times is my only shot. Cant have my pellet sailing over my target because its 30 fps faster than the rest.

As yours stands, its got too much hammer strike. If the first shots were slower, you'd need more. You just have to the middle.

Robert, if you put the stems side by side and measure them that way, that is not the correct way.

you need to put the poppets into their own valves and place the valve onto a table where the back side of the larger OD of the valve butts up against the tables edge. Then you will measure how long is the stem extruding from edge of table to the end of the stem.

I don't pest for the most part just target and plink but want to target shoot at 100 yards and see if I can do as good as Stephen has done which is 1 moa(?) or 1" group. Now if I get a shot at a ground squirrel I'm going to take it but I'm not going to really hunt for pest birds. Now one of the birds I've been thinking of shooting is a Eurasian dove if I can figure out how to cook it where it don't tastes so gamy. I've got a lot of them around my property.

I did measure with them in their respective valves but my hand slipped and it ended up a little shorter. That's ok, the delrin poppet worked just fine.

Yes. And a very thin shim can make the difference one way or the other.

I have an adjustable HS tensioner in mine like Stephen has so just a just of a screw driver will allow me to adj spring pressure. I drilled a hole in the stock like the Aspen/Freedom has to access it.

Have you found a need to add a locking device on the adjuster?
It appears as if  simple knurled nut would do the job.

I'll be leaving my liberty like it is (same way it was in the box) for now but eventually I'll tune it for 32-34fpe probably.



I've been using my Airmax Dominator for squirrel hunting recently anyway.

Not so far but I have not done much adj on it to where I needed it to stay in one setting. Still tuning to see what it likes.

I see 15 really usable shots. but only at 40fpe average? is this the DC valve and peek poppet? I get around 8-10 usable shots at 62 FPE with my set up.

you need to play with hammer spring, weight and valve spring. or just get rid of the hammer weight first and use hammer spring adjuster and the valve spring. I know heavy valve spring will give you better shot count

It's the DC valve with the delrin poppet and no hammer weight. I don't want to go any fast with the cudas but want to increase my shot count. There was around 5 errors in that string that I removed so it did get around 20 good shots. I might do another shot string today with a little higher reg setting like 1/8 turn ccw and then turn the HS adj down until the vel is the same and see what that does. I'm going with the cudas because I can get them at around $8 for 200 but they still have good power and good BC. Electric bills have been in the $250 range all summer and has drained the bank account.

no, I have never had a failure yet with peek with all the high pressure testing I did. I even tested to 4000psi unregulated. It’s likely the Delron is not up to the task. I think a beefy solid .328” round that uses one valve spring would be better instead of the step down at the valve spring.

Looks like the stem was driven through the end, and Delrin slid down, and why the plenum didn't leak down.    Peek should be allot stronger, for high reg set-points and/or using allot more energy to hit it. 

I guess it is good to keep the C-clip on, for our Delrin converted poppets.
