I think the threads on the plenum are coarser than the M10 X 1.0 gauges I have.  I think the diameter was the same. 

Anyway, it didn't fit, but was thinking along the same lines.  It would be a PITA tuning though.  Tuning is usually iterative.  Adjust pressure, adjust hammer energy, shoot string, repeat..  Swapping a gauge and plenum back and forth, not so much fun.

That's when I looked at the plenum plug.   The syn stock should be no problem with leaving it permanent.  Not sure on the wood yet. 

I do think an adapter could be made, but think it would also be more difficult than the plug.

The question I have about using the plenum plug to mount a gage is, is there enough meat left to where the O ring groove is to be strong enough to handle up to say 3K psi? The nice thing about using an adaptor at least you can adj to a pressure someone like Duy has already noted works to give the power wanted. It also makes it easy to check for reg creep which is a problem with these rifles.

Well, I tried to turn the reg up just 1/8 of a turn CCW. Even with the HS adj tightened until just before HS coil bind and all I could get with 21.14 cudas is low 700 fps. I really need to shorten the poppet stem back down to stock length. Either my reg isn't working at all or is the setting is all out of whack and I'm pushing way more pressure than expected.

 I do not recommend you doing anything to the gauge. Just use an extendable mirror to see the pressure when you are on the Butt end of the rifle. you can find those at walmart or any autoparts store. Better yet, empty or remove the magazine, dry fire a couple of times and put it on safe before you look at the muzzle end to see the gauge. Nothing to it.

But if you insist on relocating the gauge. you can put a m8x1 gauge on the block between the pressure tube and the regulator. it requires reaming and tapping and you have only one chance!

I have made an adapter to the receiver (m10x1.25) using the m8 gauge, but it was one of a kind and I gave it to Ray. I won't tap a 1/8 npt to the plenum because 1/8npt calls for .343 or less while the whole is .351 already. But if you want i can mate a m10x1 mpa gauge to the plenum if you send the plenum to me. let me know via text. the adapter to the receiver is time consuming to make and only tell pressure but an adapter to the plenums will make more sense in increasing the volume and tell pressure at each shot.

no way to tell with no gauge. but I am thinking you are pushing the pressure higher than the hammer can open. did you say 26.1 grains were going 888 at oem reg pressure? do you have hammer weight or no?

No hammer weight. I did have that McMaster spring with the cut down 9mm bullet for weight but I wasn't sure if that caused the hammer sticking problem or not but I haven't had any problem with it since I went back to the stock spring.

I'll have to check the o-ring area, but with the gauge in place, don't think that it is going to collapse inward because the wall is thinner.   

If you are not comfortable with the mod, by all means don't do it.

Orings without grooves generally will not hold air in, i have tried it with my gauge adapter mated to the receiver, it wont hold in without a groove cut into the adapter. air will seep out on high pressure.

just use thread tape, its easier to remove the gauge if needed.

IMO the grey PTFE tape (impregnated with nickel) is stronger; & the nickle lubricates the threads.

those seals have OD smaller than the OD of the threads. its meant to seal against the flat surfaces on both sides on the gauge hole and the plenum plug if it has flat surface inside that 9mm hole you about to ream out. but its a through hole...

you can get a small lat seal like the with 10mm ID to seal against the back of gauge and flat surface of the plenum's plug. right?

any thread tape will work, doesnt matter grey or black. simple and it works.......

Yes, it is through hole, but plan to run the treads all the way through and then plug the end.  That's what I meant about a "sandwhich".   

These are straight threaded and not designed to seal at the threads, but tape will be the back-up plan.

Yep, that's the plan!     I may just mod one plug, and move it between guns, when tuning.  Would leave it on the 177 where it would have the least impact on fps.

My hammer is starting to seize up again!! I know it wasn't any of the screws causing the problem as I made sure to not really tighten them down. Thought maybe it was the McMaster spring along with the 9mm slug causing it. Nope! Still has that problem and I think it has to do with having the HS adj almost to coil bind but just grasping at straws at this point. May just have to ream the receiver out to .5 inches to give the hammer more clearance. I know I'm not the only one having this problem. The hammer is measuring right at .482 evenly but worried that .5 will be much and screw up the sear engagement of the hammer.

I built my 1911 a while back, but i screw it up by filling the receiver instead of the trigger rail, now all triggers will fit loosely. lesson learned here is NEVER modify the non replaceable part unless really needed.

try to polish the hammer down a couple thousandths first before you try reaming the receiver. dont touch the raised circumference in the rear, that's where the sear engages

Well after polishing up the hammer and using the 31/64 to remove any burrs I shot one shot and ended up with 976 fps with a 21.14 gr cuda. Not going to change a thing anymore.
