Stephen slugs did really well  at 50yds for me. My groups were consistently under half inch. Hope to stretch her out to 100 plus at the farm. I’m shooting the 24gr version.

 I just ordered 4 more of the 26.1gr. and a couple of the 24.2 to test next.

 Amazing slugs for the Nova Freedom and the Liberty, I have yet to try in other .22 rifles as of yet, Prod and AT44, and Maximus will be the other guns I will test them in.

I already did lower the reg back to original. I had turned it up 1/4 turn and I'm sure it was too much. I'm probably going to have to turn it down even more but want to test it first. Duy's valve really woke this rifle up and I can see the settings you used Stephen won't work with his valve.

Robert, what you think makes Duy's valve not respond to the regulator settings the same way as a stock valve? Just trying to understand.

Well, I used your latest settings of 1/4 turn CC on the reg and a shim stack of .100 and when I went to pressurize my Liberty back up the only way to get it to hold air was cocking the rifle. When I shot the rifle the vel. kept raising as the pressure fell and got the most power at around 2500 psi. I'm almost thinking I need to put the rifle back to stock and go from there. Don't really know as this is the first PCP I've tried to tune.

Robert, If the velocity increases as the pressure falls and your peak velocity is at 2500 psi, it means your hammer spring tension is balanced at 2500psi. But that still does not tell where your reg is set at or if you are using air most efficiently. You may find that your getting a similar velocity at 2300 psi with the current HST. If so that tells you what pressure is most efficient for the current HST but not where your reg is set.

I have my guns set somewhere around 2500psi as well but my shot string stay pretty consistent until my tube manometer reads 2500psi then velocity falls off. This tells me where my reg is set.

Yes, I agree I would start with the reg set at the low side then work upwards from there to set your desired reg pressure. You may have to do several shot strings to figure it out.

If you lower the reg then you can lower the HST to match and be balanced (or make the most efficient use of air). but during testing I would leave the HST tension relatively higher if you are trying to max out the FPE.

Yes it does. I am beginning to thing the reg isn't sealing right or when I canged out the wave washers to the ones I bought from McMaster Carr is coming up with a different stack hight and putting more pressure on the reg stem. I think I need to go a 1/4 clock wise from stock and see what that does and also chech to see if the sealing surface is smooth. The more I think about it the more I am conviced the reg is not funtioning right. I also really think I need to make one of those fancy hs adj like you made and stop having to remove the stock everytime I want to adj it. It is to bad that Nova did not just use the adj from the freedom on the liberty. Heck,they could have used the exact same butt stock between the two rifles saving on part numbers.

Duy changed mine to the mcmasters and lost velocity. Does the hammer adjuster from the freedom fit the liberty?

I wanted to let you know I made 12 set of sample packs available on ebay. 25 of each weight of slugs, in case anyone is interested.

Robert and Ray, It sounds like the mcMaster-Carr belleville washers might be a little off for use in the liberty regulator. Try switching back and see if that corrects the problem. ALso, try to measure the thickness of the belleville washers from McMaster-Carr and compare to stock.

I'll measure the thickness of the stock washer and the McMaster ones. I turned the reg down a quarter of a turn from original but it is just to hot right now to do any testing. I also have to be real careful when I use my compressor as I only have 1 more burst disks left until the end of July, beginning of August.

When I tried the recommended washers for my Airmax Dominator the stack was shorter than what the originals were, I think maybe if I had added another 2-4 washers the height would have been closer but I never tried due to the fact that the spring action of the stack would probably have been a lot different.  If you have enough flat washers the same ID/OD you could try adding enough to equal the same height when stacked. as the originals, it's gonna do more than it did to begin with for sure and probably close to what it was.  At least this way you'll have good control of adjustment.

I measured the washers and they're the same thickness but I think the material is stiffer which would make sense as it seems as if the reg is set way higher than 2500. It was probably closer to 3000 or even higher when you stop and think about when the pressure got down in the upper 2000's my velocity jumped because the pressure was below where the reg was regulating to and the hammer spring tension was to the point where it was strong enough to over come the pressure. I know my Aspen is like that, it's sweet spot is right around 3000 psi with the hammer spring adj 1 turn out from bottomed. The velocity is lower if the pressure is higher. Sure wish I had a pressure gauge on the plenum. It would make this all a heck of a lot easier.

I’ve not practiced in a long time, and this one still isn’t done, but having a good layout on the gunstock makes it so much easier. From scratch and by hand is a B1+%#!!

A question for you guys who've had the regulator apart...is there an obvious vent in the receiver block that vents the regulator?  Or does it vent back through the threads?

Yep mine too, I've tried McMaster Carr washers in mine but the stack wasn't enough to get good adjustment with so I went back to the originals, the originals in all reality work just fine on mine, I just wanted to see whether the suggested washer's (another source) would work any better and basically the ones that were recommended didn't work at all.

I very well will try to get a good shot count with 21gr slugs going out at around 825fp+ and go from there. If I can't get the speed I want I will go with 18.13gr JSB's in the 850-875+ area. The other option I have is with Monsters, I have no idea what there velocity will be.
