Quote from: stretch on February 28, 2019, 11:00:26 AMI just bought a JSB pellet sample kit and mine also seems to hate JSB pellets, especially those with less than 5.52 skirt diameter. Do you mean head diameter? The skirts should always be quite a bit larger than that, usually larger than 5.6mm in my experience. Some I just checked were 5.64 - 5.66mm for example.

How do I smooth down / taper the leade to bore ledge ? dp I need to use some kind of tapered dowl or something? do you twist it in the barrel or
treat the leade->bore transition - A picture is in order: (thanks to Kirby)Knock down the sharp transition between the leade and the bore. A regimen of 320, 400, and 600 grit is good for this operation. Wrap the paper around a small dowel and sweep it in and out, applying pressure all around the perimeter.
Thanks for the info. Troy Hammer is looking at making a HS adjuster and possibly a steel TP wheel so that we can safely open the TP without fear of failure. Troy did mention that there is a shelf on either side of the TP wheel opening that could possibly limit how large of a diameter the new bolt/wheel can be. I'm waiting on his findings and will report ASAP. Nice work on the Guantlet.
Darkcharism, that's some awesome work you do!!!
It's pretty easy to feel loose and tight spots when pushing a pellet through with a cleaning rod. Within some reasonable limits, it's okay to be loose throughout the middle, just not at the muzzle. Same concept as a choke.Without a blast of air to make the skirt obturate, you'll see light weeping around any pellet you insert.
The 5.53 shoot much slower than the 5.50.But like they say "Your mileage may vary".
BM 5.52 shot faster than 5.53 in mine by about 20fps.
Bantam Style Walnut Stock. only 3 days of work and much better in-letting than the first stock.
