My cousin plans to purchase this particular rifle as his first PCP this week. His only means of filling it initially is going to be with a hand pump. How many shots can he expect to get  from a 200 bar fill?

Also, I saw a banner in the other Nova Liberty thread which had a promotional code from Hard Air Magazine.  Was this an ad from Black Friday with an incorrect expiration date or is it a promotional deal that hasn't gone live yet?

Your Es is certainly tighter than what I am seeing and Zac has.  And it just drifts down ever so slightly, compared to ours.  Both of ours are still at factory reg pressure, though.  I might try that, even though I was looking to lower it.

On a different subject, if you take the shroud off, like to know how yours is compared to air tube.  Noticed a big difference in mine, and noticed comments from others.   The barrel band is definitely putting tension into the barrel.

Thanks for putting my info in the chart. I was looking at it and it looks like the tightest es is from shot 6-71 but it still has a downward trend.

Edit: That keeps it at a 4% es. I think I’ll try another string from 3400psi to 2200 and see how it goes. Those first 5 shots have pretty big swings in FPS.

I would like to up the power should I adjust the HS, the regulator or both. I have a feeling my HS is backed out as I seem to have slightly lower power than what most people are reporting.

I hand pump to 3,600 psi, shoot to around 2,600 psi and get around 50-60 shots.

The ATI coupon is a mystery.  The banner suddenly appeared last week on the Hard Air site but the code didn't work when I tried it.

I pumped mine to 3500psi shortly after I got it, because my Shoebox needed a rebuild. It didn't seem to get much harder between 3k and 3.5k than just pumping to 3000. I would prefer pumping it to 3500 because of the extra shots before needing to pump again. If he goes to a range, or in the field to shoot, he could pump to 3500-3600 at home, and then top off to 3000 at the range to reduce the length of his "pump sessions". He would probably get around 30 shots, depending on power level.

Barrel and transfer port, power adjuster is 9/64 or .140 from the factory.. Also I ran the brass disc out all the way to the air tube and back one complete revolution at time.. 890-870 for the JSB 13.65.. Never consistent.  Another thing when I put the gun up the next day the fps is different (lower)..  I usually dry fire once to clear the reg out before running it through the chronograph.. So the only thing I can think of is the valve or regulator is what is holding it back.. I am a old guy with essential tremors and basic hand tools living on disability..
   Troy Hammer has been having problems, so anyone know of someone that can help me out with step by step or inexpensively..

Ray, if you are still looking. i am selling the valve that i made. throat at .250. exhaust at .217. delrin poppet OD at .340.  you will need to bore your exhaust out to 3/16 and leave the barrel port at .140 but oblong it to 3/16. pm me for more information. i am going back to the original valve design. i screwed up the breech so no more modding for me. im fine at 45fpe currently with almost stock hammer spring tention.

A poster on another forum says he contacted American Tactical today and they were unaware of the coupon not being active.  Apparently, they are currently "looking into it."

Does anyone have a clue if a BKL standard rings will be high enough to clear the magazine with a Hawke Vantage 4-12x40? Also better alternative to the factory magazine...Marauder or Gauntlet?

I've been using my Marauder mags and they work just fine, they just don't snap in the way the stock ones do.

The low power just blocks air after it leaves the valve.  If it conserves any air, probably negligible.  Easy enough for you to verify once you receive your gun.

I've been using my Marauder mags and they work just fine, they just don't snap in the way the stock ones do.

I have a couple Gauntlet mags and they fit snugger than the Marauder mags, so if you need that tight fit, try the Gauntlet mags.

Well,  Last night I removed the shroud and re-installed the barrel and went out and shot it. I got exactly the same results..  shots are 10" - 12" apart !!! all over the place.  I'm not sure if the problem is the barrel or something else.  I'm completely stumped at this point.  I was hoping that shooting with the barrel in a "floating" configuration would indicate a problem with the barrel/shroud combination, but, sadly, I don't think that is the case. 

I guess next I'm gonna try a crosman barrel and see if accuracy improves.  Other than that, I have no idea what to try.  Could the problem be somewhere else other than the barrel   Is it possible that the breech is screwed up, and if so, how could I determine that ?  It seems ok.  Also, I talked with Jennifer on the phone and she said I'm on the list for parts if/when they get any.

Assuming the velocity is at least somewhat consistent, and you are not leaking at bolt probe O-rings, most likely the barrel.  Still that is allot to be off, even with a bent barrel. 

Are the pellets spiraling?  You can usually see it with a good back lighting near dusk.   Are your 10yd groups 2"?

How does the rifling look?   Have you pushed a few different types of pellets through the barrel?   Burr at the barrel port?   On mine, there is a ledge just past the barrel port, that "sizes" the pellet and shaves some of it off.  You feel it just before the bolt is fully closed.

I didn't have much time last night, but tonight I will push some pellets through the barrel and take a look at them.  also, thanks for the reply.  I'm soaking up any and all recommendations.  Right now the barrel is off of the gun, but, if I have time, I'll re-install it and try 10 yard / 25 yard groups.

Mine shoots oddly.  I have shot hole in hole groups with a given pellet then not so well the next day or a week later.  Barracudas almost always shoot lousy out of mine.  Most pellets will shoot 1 1/2" or better but there is no clear best pellet at least not consistently.
I shoot at 30 yds for the most part.  My gun is shooting at around 35 FPE right now.  I was hoping to get better groups out of the Barracudas at higher power and I may have achieved that to some point but I don't think I am getting the consistent accuracy I am seeing from others.

I have a few thousand pellets through it by now.I have scrubbed the bore with JB and a brass brush, two different times.  Cleaned it very thoroughly several times.  There is no burr at the port and I have polished the crown and the leade.  I have knocked down the edge from the leade into the bore.


My barrel seems to be choked.  It is also quite snug just past the TP.  When i push a pellet through there are several tight spots, they are small spots like a burr but they have not polished out or shot out.
Shooting this past weekend I had a fair amount of vertical stringing with several pallets but not all.  I have not shot any Chrony strings lately but I will.  I only have the $28 Chinese unit.  It works well but needs me to convert to fps and do all other calculations.


I do see some spiraling and my bolt probe is not leaking.

Thinking I need to lap this barrel.  UGGH!

Ray, the barrels are tight.. I am trying to get the .177 NSA slugs up to 900's.. I chambered and removed one and measured it.. 4.52 before and after 4.34 !! Doesn't the bore seem to small ? The slugs are fully rifled along the sides..Wondering if they need to be sized down.... darkcharisma offered his valve he made and I hope it would get the speed up.. I don't know if it would..

I would say each end of mine is tight but the center is not.  I have several tight spots in mine though between the ends.
I have my reg cranked up about 3/4 of a turn to get my Barracuda a little over 900 fps.  The HS is adjusted to just below the knee (assuming I did it correctly).  My ports are also opened up to a little under .180".  I don't know enough to know if I need a valve or a larger plenum or what, but I believe most others are getting more power with much less reg adjustment.
Then again maybe my barrel is slowing things down.

Try this remove the barrel push a pellet just past the tp take a flash light shine in on muzzle end. With the pellet in the bore you should not see any daylight keep pushing the pellet at different spots in the bore. If you see daylight the bore is not concentric thru out the length of the barrel hence a tight bore loose bore😎 accuracy will be affected meaning the pellet is not stable inside the full length of barrel as it exits the barrel 😎 in other words you have a bad barrel 😳
