thats not bad for 1 hour of work. it took me a day from start to finish making one out of 416 steel.
* * CAUTION * * CAUTION * * Hey guys, just another heads up. There are at least 5 power adjustment valves that I know of that failed after modification. My personal experience was pretty scary. I had modified the valve to 3/16 for my 22 cal. along with the barrel port and a mild increase in regulator pressure. I was testing the results in my basement by shooting over the chrony into a plastic juice bottle filled with rubber mulch (works great). Shooting H&N Barcuda 21's I wanted to do a full string. After averaging around 880 for the first mag, I filled another mag and began to shoot. The first shot was an ear busting BANG and the power adjustor valve split. The knob went flying 20 ft. across my basement through some 6 mil visqueen sheeting, and bounced off the concrete wall by 10ft. Needless to say, I reached for the defibrillator pack I keep with my PCP equipment (not really), but my heart did skip a beat or two. I had somehow inadvertently bumped the power adjustment valve to "Low". This probably happened when I rearranged some items to set the gun down, and fill a new magazine. I thank God that my hand was not over the knob or my wife was not standing beside me at the time. My suggestion to all those guys who have modified their power adjustment valves is this: remove the valve again and at the very least block a portion of the rotation relief on the back side of the knob itself. This would prevent it from moving off of "Hi". This could be easily accomplished with some type of "Steel Putty", "J. B. Weld" etc. I do not know if my valve would have failed had it remained in the "Hi" position, but I most certainly would do anything possible to prevent that event from happening again. I hate to "rat" on my own mistakes, but a little humility to save another is well worth the "crow". Good luck with your mods & be careful!
On a different note... I still cant figure out how to get the barrel out of the shroud. It only moves about 2mm where the plastic piece goes into the shroud where the little screw is. Anyone Stephen ?
It is probably not a good idea to put it on "low" even if you didn't modify it, but have raised the set-point pressure. On low, it just a little plastic piece that is blocking most of the flow. Even unmodified, it is probably the weak link.
Got mine working again. I had to cut a groove in the shaft of the power adjuster I made and use an O ring. it sealed it very well. on the right side I cut a doughnut out of a bicycle innertube to use as a gasket and that worked as well. I used blue thread lock on the screw on the right side. It works pretty well, but I would like to make something a little better, or buy a replacement made from steel. Also, I emailed Jennifer at ATI and she said she'd see what she could do about getting me a replacement power adjuster. On a different note... Thanks Stephen, but that was not as easy with my gun. I actually had to use a wooden dowel and a hammer to get the barrel out. It took considerable force. I crowned the barrel, but that did not help accuracy at all. I think I've just about had enough of this "dang" gun. It wont shoot straight AT ALL. at 50 yards my groups are 10" to A FOOT apart !!!! I've done everything I can think of to make it shoot better, but it just not worthy. I've tried 6 different types of pellets, no shims, one shim, two shims, stock reg adjuster, 1/4 turn, half turn, full turn, bag rest, bipod, three different scopes with different mounts. NOTHING WORKS. maybe it's a bent barrel ? I'm thinking that since it took so much force to get the barrel out of the shroud, maybe that's the problem. I might take the shroud completely off and see if accuracy improves at all. Or, maybe I could try a different barrel, but I'm not sure what would fit. I've seen people use marauder barrels on other guns, but dont know if there's a barrel that I could adapt to this gun.Maybe it's just a lemon. but I'm stuck with it. $300 down the drain.
I'd love to return it, but I've modified it and voided the warranty.

It might be worth a try calling ATI anyways to see what they say. Tell them the whole story. Worst comes to worse, there might be a few people here interested in buying parts. I know that's the first thing I thought when I saw the 20% off coupon, buy a second one for parts "just in case".
