I took a chance and re-crowned the Nova Liberty barrel. Has anyone tried re-crowning and if so any luck? It's too cold to try and test out if my re-crowning has improved anything. I don't think it will hurt.

Looks pretty good to me. I recrown all my barrels using a crowning tool 11 degree offset and yes it does increase accuracy for sure😎 what did you use to recrown the barrel?

Currently overseas and cannot remember the brand cutter I use😳 here is a similar one that I use

Wait, you went from pic on right to pic on left with just a brass screw and grinding compound? Is the barrel that soft?

First I used a dermel round ball grinder ever so gently and then a brass screw with valve grinding for about 5 minutes.

Re-crowned (11deg target) and re-worked the leade on one of mine. Found no difference between the two in accuracy.

But can't see how it could hurt...

Mike - B.B. Pelletier did some pretty extensive testing awhile back on "Air Gun Academy" (Pyramyd Air) about a year ago and his findings matched yours.
He recrowned some of his air rifles and found no real difference.
I tried finding the write up doing a search but no luck.
I noticed that the results here are an improvement in accuracy. Makes the finding that much more interesting.
Hope this doesn't stir a hornets nets. It's not meant to. Just thought I'd interject findings from the article and what Mike found.

Just a tip on touching up a crown. If the crown has some nasty chatter or burrs that you want to first remove with an aggressive method like a stone or carbide burr, a handheld variable speed drill at low speed will provide excellent control so as to avoid removing too much material. And as always, don’t try to hold it straight on or you risk cutting an uneven bevel. Instead, orbit the drill body as you grind. Either one will remove material so fast that you really won’t be able to complete more than an orbit or two before enough material is gone so use a very light touch...just enough to keep the bit in contact with the workpiece.

For the polishing step, be sure to select a brass screw with an equal or smaller radius than the previous tool. That way you can be sure it polishes the part that matters which is just the inflection point where the bore meets the bevel. Polishing the entire bevel is unnecessary...that just makes it pretty.

I haven't touched mine yet but I do it on all my airguns..
A bit of insight on the .177 .. I pulled the barrel and was going to message the barrel port and the power adjuster.. Well surprise both are about maxed.. 9/64th or .140, so about 80% .... Now mine seems to have something under the rear setscrew so I couldn't see all the way to the valve, but it may be about maxed also.. Let me know If you do...

I sent a pm to Steve (thebanker ) and he said there is a o ring or poly tubing in the last barrel screw and he removed it to get clear access down to the valve.. I am wondering if the factory opened the valve port like they did on the barrel and the power adjuster.. It is worth a look.. Mine is a .177..
