Finally had a chance to take my synthetic .22 Liberty apart today to adjust the reg and shim the hammer spring. I did have the three small washers on the hammer spring guide and added two more 6mm washers as others have done. After marking the original position of the reg adjuster, I turned one quarter turn counter clockwise, and put everything back together. Again, many thanks to all on this thread that have gone before me and made my task so much easier.

The Liberty was filled to about 3800 psi and my first shot over the chrony with JSB 15.89 was over a 1000 fps. (WOW, was I surprised at the new power) I switched to JSB 18gn and they were shooting mid 940-960 fps, After that, 21 gn Baracudas were shooting between 870-890 fps. Very impressive power gains with so little effort. Maybe more power than I want for this rifle, as I might just go back and remove one of the 6mm washers to try to get JSB 18gn down to about 900 fps.

While adjusting, I backed out the trigger pull weight screw just a tad (it was all the way in) and it seems to have lightened the pull to a comfortable hunting trigger (I don't have a gauge) Overall I am very impressed with how adjustable this rifle really is, and what a great value the Liberty has become. Please, Please, Please, Nova Vista, bring out the Liberty in .25 cal !!!

Just found another contender for accuracy in my wood .177 liberty. I have 14 different weight pellets & decided to narrow it down. Not surprising the wadcutters like low power. Then i tried some Benjamin Hollow point 7.9 gr at low power. 3/4 in group at 20 yds, not to good. Before i put them away i decided to try them on high power. Nine shoots went into the same hole! If anyone wants to try them i see they are $8.15 for 750 on Amazon now. These are plastic sealed to cardboard so even amazon shipping doesn't hurt them.

Anyones first shot crazy high, then settles down ? I timed mine to about 45 minute to equal the fastest shot again.. After the first shot 1-30 minute not much of a difference in fps ...

Anyone having problems with double feeds? This may be unique to the .177 due to the small pellet size. This seems to happen at least once or twice every time I pull out the Liberty to shoot. Sometime it just jams, other times it flips the pellet and feeds it backwards and other times it just loads two pellets. It's not unique to one brand of pellet either. Just curious what's up and how do I stop it from happening?

That's a sign the regulator is creeping. About how many pellets have you run through it so far? Sometimes it takes a few hundred shots (open/close cycles of the regulator) to get the seat to wear in and seal well.

Also, if it's crazy high, it also means there is too much hammer strike and it's wasting air. If you have shimmed the hammer spring, you should be able to back it out without losing any velocity...or trade off something like 20-30fps to gain a lot of shots.

Thanks Jason! I probably only have about 300-500 pellets through it so far. I did shim the hammer spring to increase power, but it was doing this before I made any adjustments. I'll pull one of the washers I used to shim the hammer spring and see if that helps. Thank you for they feedback!

My .177 double fed in the middle of a ft match, took it out and put the single shot tray in, never looked back into it yet. Might have something to do with pellet length ? I had switched from CPDH to air arms for that day, prior to that I had no issues.

LOL, I forgot all about the single shot tray. But, with the little .177 pellets I prefer the magazine since my fumble fingers would probably end up feeding more backwards by hand than those that flip in the magazine.

I suspect the contractor who copied the Umarex - Marauder - Theoben (may have missed some) got the spring tension wrong...

Good point Mark, unfortunately, the Liberty mag doesn't have the multiple holes for the spring like the Mrod mags do. So, no option to adjust the tension other than going a whole other turn of the coil, which is probably way too much tension!

Over 1100 fps for the first shot. then 970-980 with 1 minute spacing from then on.. Thats the fastest I can get with the 13.5 jsb monsters.. wanting to shoot the 15.5 Nielsen slug..

I would imagine that one could make some extra holes with a tiny drill or hot paperclip. On my Sentry mag I had to bend a slightly longer hook end on the spring , so it almost protruded out of the back of the hole.

Here are 2 5 shot groups I shot with NSA the one on the right 15. gr almost 1 hole, was shooting over crono, and not fully paying attention"what's new" . And the scattered almost touching was the 19. gr . both .177.

How many yards and what fps for the 15 and 19? Ordered the 15 to try in my 177’s

Well the 15.5 gr did great same hole @ 10m with an average FPS of 750. The 18 gr were doing 650 but over a 2" group @ 10m

. the next were the 21 gr. not so good .. waiting on a carbon fiber rod to arrive to solve that problem

Well I put spacers on the hammer spring enough to barely compress the spring.. Just a perceptable amount of compression.. Also turned up the regulator another 3 dots.. Now shooting the JSB monsters at 1000, the Eunjins in the 900's and the ones i am really interested in the NSA 15.5 in the low 800's.. Is there anything to gain if I open up the barrel port ? Can i do that with a hand drill or do I need a drill press..

I got one of the cheap clamp on chronographs from Aliexpress and was able to take some readings off my liberty this evening. I am thinking I need to turn the reg as it seems a little slow but IDK for sure. What do you guys think.

I dont think you'd want to run 14.3 CPHP's any faster than that. You should see how well they group at 50+yds at this speed for a baseline if you do decide to turn up the reg.

In my experience, CPHP's usually start getting a little unstable beyond 865-875 fps.
If you decide to run heavier pellets, you could probably get away with turning up the reg. to maintain the 850-900 speeds that most diablo type projectiles prefer to run at.

Generally speaking, if you want to run pellets at speeds over 900 , they need to be a minimum of 25 or 28 grains.
Of course, Your mileage may vary.
