I went counterclockwise as Steve said.. One note I have to add is even after degassing, YOU NEED TO FIRE THE RIFLE TO DEGASS THE REGULATOR !! I was wondering why it was so hard to turn.. I went a full revolution just to see as mine was screwed all the way in ! Test it this afternoon..
I do have one question to those that shimmed the hammer spring, did yours have any washers or shims on it? Mine had nothing at all.. I did polish the end of the spring and added a thin flat washer so the spring will not to ride on the plastic haammer spring guide...

I haven’t tried with the gun aired up but I don’t think you can move the dial while the gun is under pressure. I could be wrong. Hasn’t been a big deal for me to degas though so I don’t worry about it.

I tried and no go. So I let it be for when I have the courage :-) I don't like taking things apart unless I have to.

I had to take apart my trigger, long story, so while I was in there I worked to lighten the pull. Now it's down to being 2.5 lb pull. It's as good and predicable as my Marauder which I use for my benchmark.
So turning up the regulator is my last mod to get the H&N 21 Baracuda close to 900 fps.

I did try some Neilson slugs and interestingly it liked them as much as my Marauder, which means it didn't. Shoots them wildly anywhere between 1-2 spread at 15 yards.
Fortunately both the Liberty and Marauder like the JSB Monster 25's. Accurate and devastating at 30 yards on tree rats. They go down and barely move with a shot right above the shoulder.

Once you degas and fire a couple time the air tube is easily screwed off by hand.. Then the brass disc is accessible...

Matt= I agree with Frankie. I've read more then once that you should de gas or fire a shot and adjust the reg before the plenum refills. Why take a chance! DEGAS.

I went a full revolution and then chronied.. Then I went a half more No more gain... Backed of a couple of dots and chronied again and kept doing it till the fps fell off.. Then upped it again till the best fps was reached... Used up a bunch of air!! 840-850 fps with jsb monster 13.65 gr.. Next is shimming the hammer to get the 15.5 neilsen slugs about 900.. I hope !!

By the way Matt, I think you can do it without removing the stock or the tube... Just degas and fire it a few times..

Ray= It sounds like you found your problem when you noticed no washers on the hs. You should see the gains you're looking for with shimming. Let us know how you make out.

Yes it is not good to adjust a regulator while under pressure, it can damage the internals.
I have been planning on testing to see if the .177 would shoot slugs, I see somone beat me to it, though I am added some .22 30 gr boat tail, and .172 26 gr bullet molds , hope to get time to cast n test somewhat over holidays.

I guess I was lucky when I upped my regulator pressure, I didn't degas or remove the air tube, wasn't worried though as I was increasing and not decreasing the regulated pressure, just used the tip of an awl in the gap between air tube and shroud and tapped the awl until I had rotated the brass cap about two holes or aprox 1/8 turn. I'm happy with the Barracudas at 33.5 FPE. I now understand how guys with high-end guns feel when they say their rifles are boringly accurate. Now if I pull a shot I really gotta own it and can't blame it on a damaged pellet. It's odd watching magazine after magazine cut nothing but one hole groups in the targets with me now being the weak link.

It's okay to increase the regulator's setpoint on the fly. All that does is open up the seat to allow the pressure to build higher before the spring compresses to close off the seat again.

It's doing down in pressure that is potentially damaging. That causes the seat to become compressed ever tighter and that has the potential to damage the seat.

Ken= I see this is the second time you have asked the question with no replies? I can tell you the guns are accurate. I have not read of anyone with a bad barrel yet. I think everyone now is just figuring out how these guns work. By april when you finally get to shoot yours there should a wealth of info available. Mine really likes the AA 10.3 gr. & the JSB redesigned monster 13.43 gr.

Well I shimed it up.. 2 washers .177 900's fps jsb monsters... 3 washers jsb monster at 1050 -1100 fps I might take one of the washers and take it down a bit.. 15.5 gr slugs 700's same with the jsb beasts.. I sure it will change as the regulator breaks in..If I get out and do some accuracy testing and determine what it shoots best, then tune to it.. I only plan on shooting 10.5 and up..

Definitely liking the numbers you are getting with the 177👍🏾 Have some 15 gr sniper in 177 and 16 gr beast in 177😎 these pellets just might shoot really good 😳
