Curious about the RWS 460 Underlever

I'm rather curious as to why the 460 does not get very much, or should I say "as much" attention on forums as the TX200 or the HW97K underlevers?

I personally cannot attest to the fit and finish, the firing behavior, or the accuracy of this gun since I have never owned or shot one.

What I have noticed is that it is comparably priced to the two aforementioned guns(three dollars less than a TX200 MKIII at P.A.).

Might it be because the 460 is a magnum springer and a bit harsher than others, or are there other issues that I'm certainly not aware of?

Really would like to know your opinions and experience on this gun.

My brother loves his 460 .22, so much, that he sold his RWS 350. I found a store selling them for 250 new..... I should of bought one....Oh Well.  At least I still have my RWS 350...hehe.

I researched it before I bought my TX.A 460 was on my short list.I found alot of people complained about the front sight being big and plastic.Also seemed like many had problems with breech seals and broken loading port springs.It was enough to steer me clear even though I'm a Diana fan.

There's an easy fix for the breech using a shim.  Most of the guys who have one on the Dianawerk say nothing but good things about it.  Not as hard to shoot as the 350, etc.  You might ask there -

A 460 is on my list of guns to own.  I've decided I like the under lever guns above break barrels and side-cocking guns.  Does it have the same power as a 350?  That is probably why they aren't as popular as the more traditional field target guns like the TX and the HW. 

Still it is an awesome looking rifle and I have gun envy.

Is that $250 for a new 350 or 460?  If it's for the 460, that is a STEAL.  (And not bad for the 350, either.)

The 460 was priced at 250.....Yep, a steal.  They were getting out of airguns at the time, so I bought a few guns.

Last time I was at the store( 3 mo's ago) they still had a BSA Lonestar/ RWS 52. I'm working offduty over there tomorrow and will stop in to see what's left.

I have a 46 .22 and it is the most accurate rifle I have.  It looks the same as the 460 except for the loading method. Weighs about the same, nine pounds five ounces with scope. The front sight piece looks identical.

I cannot say enough good things about this gun.  Ever since I got it, it has been a joy to shoot.  Mine is the .177 version and the stock is pretty, the trigger is great, it has plenty of power, and most of all it is way more accurate than I am.  I can hit a paint stirring stick at 50yards with it repeatedly.  Honestly if I had the cash I would get another one in .22 caliber just because it is such a great gun.  It shoots and sounds like it is tuned already and it is not hold sensitive at all. If you get one you will not and I say again not be disappointed.

Boys maybe you too need to check with Umarex to see what they have as refurbs. I've thrown my hat in for a 48 and a 54 (just in case they have something that's a real steal, in which case I'll rob my local bank to acquire funding).

Well, I went back today and unfortunately they weren't on sale.  I didn't want to haggle since I was in uniform. I'm itching to buy a new gun soooo bad.

Will call them to tomorrow to see about prices. They only have a RWS 52 & Lonestar.

good luck, Patton1. If you're going to try to haggle, try grabbing the store manager by the scruff of the... No, it's better to be nice. If it's not too far from you, I'd say go there and speak to the head honcho personally. Just a thought.

Man, I'd like to have a 460 but that is a BIG price tag for that gun.  It cost more than all of my Chinese guns put together
