I am seeing these breakers for just over 200 bucks from a couple of online retailers, I’ve been thinking about a magnum springer for a while and thought I’d throw it out there for the forum’s feedback. I’m tempted to bite, any reason I should hesitate? I primarily hunt squirrels and so want a little extra oomph for these northern grays. I am aware of the argument for more accuracy, less power, but I’m pretty sure a magnum is in my future. I am cool with .25, I can cast my own or get the 4 for 3 special from Pyramyd.

I don't own one, but I have read that the Trail NP XL can be hard to shoot accurately.
I moved your thread to the Crosman-Benji Gate so that you can get feedback from NP XL owners.
Coincidentally I have have taken a few hundred northern Grey's with .177 and .22 Springers and PCP's. A few with .25 but never really had the need for the .25's "extra oomph" for squirrel. The .177/22 did just fine and never wounded or lost any Grey's. When I didn't make a head shot, a vitals shot with .22 always got the job done.

Alright, thanks much. It’s good to know that kills can be that consistent, I know that I need to tighten up my approach a bit. I’m good with my Vantage, that gets around 19 fpe. I’m afraid I stretch my shots a bit and have seen a few straggle away-not fun. I guess I hoped that a more powerful springer could buy me a little wiggle room when the shot isn’t perfect, also a few more yards if I need them.

Jesse
I have a 22cal Benjamin NP XL 1100. This gun is very accurate out to 55 yards.... BUT.. it requires
Concentration & Good Springer Shooting Skills
in-order to be accurate with this gun. The gun weighs about 11 LBS with scope and has around a 50 LB cocking force. If you get one then I would recommend doing a trigger mod to the stock trigger and adding bronze pivot washers. I got my gun thru the GTA Classifieds and it was already modified with an up-graded piston seal, bronze pivot washers, Lube Tune, Barrel & Cylinder work plus a CDT GRT Trigger.
I added a Bullseye ZR Scope Mount. The former owner of my gun had broken 3 quality, aftermarket springer rated, scopes then gave up on the gun. I have not had any scope issues since I added the Bullseye ZR Scope Mount. I also removed the shroud and all shroud related parts.
I absolutely "Love This Gun" but many people that get this gun wind up not liking it for one reason or another. I use this gun primarily for hunting.
Good Luck Sir.
Best Wishes - Tom

The NP II is easier to cock, more powerful and easier to shoot IMHO!
