ran into a guy today where i work thats visiting at our port. he has the YH compressor and has used it for 2 years with over 30hours of run time that he fill guns and small bottles to 3600psi and also for his son's paintball stuff.
he told me he uses type-f automatic transmission fluid for lubrication.

I worked as Tech engineer for an oil company eons ago. We used to recommend lubricants for industrial screw compressors subjected to heat and pressure that pales in comparison to what the Yong Hengs experience. Our default oil was auto transmission Fluid packaged in drums and sometimes labeled with a more industrial sounding name.

Granted, some will lube nominally better than others. I am thinking that the issue is not so much the lubricity of any particular fluid. Rather, its the foaming resistance of the fluid that is most at play in this, isn't it? There is no protected sump with windage tray to give the fluid sufficient time to yield any air suspension that it may have.
