The waits OVER

At last it tuned up to day.....I just about fell out the door
in my rush getting to the Courier van...
A nice bright shinny new Webley Patriot .25...
So first impressions..Its a BIG gun & at 9lbs unscoped
yer can't call it light...
The finish is good on the blue but the stain/oil on the stock
is a bit patchy...
If the book is to be beleaved the trigger comes pre set
with a 2lbs pull & has 3 adjustment screws....at the moment
theres no noticeable change from 1st to 2nd stage...
Cocking force is not light but not as heavy as I was exspecting
but yer wouldn't want to shorten the barrel...
The scope rail is cut for both dovetail & weaver fitting...A scope stop
is surplyed....
The saftey works fine / smooth..but if yer push it on a angle it won't move
easly....saftey is ingauged ever time yer cock it....
Barrel lock up is firm with no movement.."so far"
Shooting...
The recoil is a bit harsh..but it is a 30fpe springer...
There is some spring noise..not twangy..looking in the slot
its seems quit dry....
The trigger seem to have more than the 2lbs pull stated in the book
but no ware as hard as a standard gamo trigger...its no match grade
trigger but then its not a target gun..the trigger is more than ok
for the guns intended use...
It took 5 patches to get the crud out of the barrel...no probs pulling
a patch down that hole...
Talking about holes...dam dose this thing make some BIG holes...
Open site can't be adjusted low enough...right down and its still
shooting 1 1/2" high....
So..other than the finish on the stock...I'm pretty happy...
It will make a good hunter..

So I scoped it up and tryed to get it to group...it was really depressing
at 20m from the shoulder the groups were bigger than a rabbits head...
Even if the pellet weren't to its likeing I would have thought crow mags
would give better groups than what I was getting...
So I grabed the .22 hatsan heavyest recoil springer I have...No probs with it.
what I did notice it just felt so much better...nicer fit..So I layed the .22 on
the Webley...It had a 40mm shorter pull length....well only one thing for it..
wheres that saw?....Yer so thats what I did...A 4 hour old gun got the big chop
but this was a bit diffrent for me..I uasly chop the other end....40mm off the but..
put it back to geather..what a diffrents...next 2 shots ,standing In the bull...
So now reshape the butt & get a thicker but pad...I guess the patchy stain
job is no longer a issue..
Its amazzing the diffrents a good fit makes..can now hold it a lot more stable..
JAY...Heres the hole pics for yer...look at the diffrent between .22 & .25 in a can..
took some pics of the trigger..4 all you trigger types out there..
