What airgun related did you do today?

I had to return my new Crosman 2240xl today.  Just got it and put in it's first CO2 cartridge and pussssssssssssss went the gun.  The second did the same thing:(  So it going back for an exchange.   Not a big deal as I have others to shoot.  Charles

Try cocking it first. The hammer spring might be keeping the valve open.

Won a Daisy 717 at a gun auction.   I've wanted one of these for a couple years.  I examined it before the auction and cosmetically it's very good to excellent.  Mechanically it seems to be OK although I couldn't test fire it.   Maybe it will need to be resealed.    It could end up being my backup gun for 10M in case my IZH46M craps out unexpectedly.

The Beeman P17 parts are on the desk in the mancave waiting on o-rings (struck out at Home Depot and Lowes).  So out of boredom I very lightly buffed the touch surfaces on an already light and smooth trigger assembly....
I lightly 0000 steel wooled the alleged  bur area inside the cylinder
The tiny o-ring on the end of the valve was torn....
Cleaned the barrel (4wet and 2 dry)

Well..... it's raining. But that's ok, I'm high and dry in the Red Shed.... ok, maybe not high... yet   

Just happen to have the Xisico 705 and the GAMO Urban out here and neither of the 2 failed in giving me something to do.
First the Urban....
Ok so, of all my PCP guns I was under the impression that I did not have a slug shooter. But wait, there's more !!
I opened my compartment .22 pellet tray and spoted a section containing about 300 NSA 217-HS-HP-DB-24.8 slugs.
I was sure I'd tried these in this gun.. apparently not. I loaded 5 in the mag and drew a bead on the steel blank at 35yds. Low and inside... shot another... exact same hole... Huh? Another... BINGO, same hole. WTH?
So, I dialed in the scope and ran 2 more mags... you would think I was completely missing the target.... same hole every shot.  "Betty Lou... Get in the truck, we're going to buy some lottery tickets !!!"

So, after that excitment wore off, I spotted the 705 sitting over there all lonely n junk.
I thought to my self... "Self, I remember seeing a 3D printed Marauder type single shot tray in the box."
Ans self replied.. "Not sure why, you sold that Marauder a looonnnggg time ago."
So I pulled a file from the file drawer and went to work on it. Little by little because I have been accused of taking things too far on occasion...   
Lo and behold... I might just have the first, and only, Xisico 705 HC Deluxe .25 single shot tray. It fits and functions just like it grew in there.

Ok so, here is where I stop fiddling with stuff because I have a track record... matter of fact, Nick Cannon just might be the only guy that has more kids by differen......    Ok, stop right there self.... you've said way too much.

After a winter of indoor shooting, I cleaned the lead out of my backstop box and replaced the cardboard packing.   I only shoot low powered .177 and a very few .22 so the cardboard easily stops the pellets.

LOL... you have to start to quit. I think I tried this a couple years back and failed too. I think I just try too hard with a scope. I might be better off with a peep sight.

How are your eyes?
About 15 years ago, I could no longer use open sights.  I made a peep sight for my .22 LR.  Couldn't see the target through that either.  I knew when to say 'when'.

I think I could do it within 10 yds. Haven't tried in a while. That's not to say I could hit that little bitty match target center but I can give a pest a bad day.

A scoped rifle is the only way I can fly these days.  I do wear eye glasses while hunting for better distant vision.  My scopes are adjusted to those glasses.  Works for me!

A scope brings things right up close and personal. I rest the front of the gun on a bag and use my left hand on my shoulder to 'yoke' the but of the gun. I tend to wander a bit with the cross hairs. I should probably zoom out some so I'm not trying to be so perfect.
