I Went Hunting Yesterday - I Got a Black & a Few Grays.

I took my 22cal Benjamin Trail NP XL 1100 rifle out hunting yesterday.   The Benjamin was loaded with 22cal Gamo Redfire 15.4gr pellets. I had also brought one of my 177cal 1300 pistols, loaded with 117cal Crosman 7.4gr pointed pellets but I did not use it today. The mosquitoes were out-and-about in force.  The Black was shot at about 35 to 40 yards and the grays were shot at about 25 to 30 yards.  There was a slight wind and the temp was around 70 F.  The hunting was difficult with the trees being full of leaves. All of the shots were taken with my gun rested on a tree trunk or branch.  It was very difficult to spot, shoot and then locate the squirrels today.   All in all it was a good day hunting.     This was the first day when I saw more than just a couple of squirrels in the tree tops.

Great shooting on the black and gray's Tom !!!  I did see a black and couple of fox squirrels yesterday but the only thing I was able to get a shot at were the reds.

I won't be hunting for the next few days.  It rained hard yesterday evening and last night. We are supposed to get rain on and off until Friday.  Sunday it was 90 F and humid and today it is 56F and less humid.  Thats Minnesota for sure.  Once we get a frost the bugs will be gone and once the leaves fall the hunting will pick up some.                     Best Wishes - Tom

Nice shooting, Tom. How do you like that Benji? it looks lethal in you hands. I went out Sunday, but until we lose some leaves here I am not going to go out again. cover is just too darn thick. I saw two grays, but couldn't get any clear shots.

Scott...Thank You for your kind reply.     I really like the 22cal Benjamin NP XL a Lot... but... it takes Discipline & Control in order to be accurate with it.  I would not recommend one to anyone that has never shot a springer.   It has the most power of all my gas ram guns but it is also the trickiest to shoot well.   I did not buy mine..... I got it on a trade, already modded, in the GTA Classifieds.   The former owner did a lot of work on this gun before I got it.  The only thing I did with this gun was to add the Bullseye ZR Scope Mount and to remove the Shroud.   I like Springers... and this gun shoots really well....AS Long As I Do My Part.

I'm sorry that you are stuck at work.. but I know how that goes.   I did 50 years of hard work myself and sometimes 2 jobs.     
Now that I am 70 and retired....Hunting Is What I Do.

Well Folks....the rain has stopped and no rain is forecasted until this evening.... Soooooo... the Hunt Is On !   I think I will be taking the 22cal Crosman Summit Ranger Np 2 rifle this time.  It has a plastic stock and all the wetness out in the woods won't bother it much.  It is not as powerful as the 22cal Benjamin Trail NP XL 1100 but it is easier to be accurate with. I'll be shooting 22cal Crosman 10.5gr Piranha's in the Summit Ranger today.
