Miles, since it appears that you are following this topic......
Why do certain barrels/pellets/speeds/guns perform much better in the wind than the BC says they should? (and I know it's not just me, because other airgunners tell me about magic combos too)

Mine is specifically a gun with a LW polygonal barrel shooting the JSB 10.34s at an average of 915-920fps. It is simply magic in the wind. At field target competitions, others in the same sub 20fpe class, also shooting 10.34s will be complaining of hold-offs upwind two or three times what this combo of mine requires. The wind can be screaming and I'll only need an inch or two of hold off and they'll be talking about holding upwind 5 or 6 inches at targets the same distance. I've measured the BC of this combo and it provided no hint to the magic, I think it was something like 0.031, which is about what I've measured from other .177 guns with this pellet that performed much more poorly in the wind.

My friend has an old Falcon .22 that resists wind deflection at 12fpe better than many .177s at 20fpe.

I alluded to this in a recent post about how the .22 JSB 18.13s from a different gun are doing the opposite of my magic combo, being deflected by the wind much more than the measured BC suggests it should be.

My assumption is that there is more to this conundrum than BC seems to correctly model. But I'm not smart enough to know what that is (almost as if there is a missing part of the equation-other than BC, drag models, fpe, form factors, etc).
