I was one of the first to test FP-10 in firearms and Pellets. due to the Army giving me some to try out long before it was available to the public.


I found it to be excellent on pellets, and terrible on cast led slugs in AG's.




One of the Pioneers in long range AG's in big bore RoachCreek, found that 10 wt silicon RC Shock oil does a very good job in the accuracy department. I've been using it for over 7 years now, and it always helps with both accuracy, breach o ring,  and leading. Easy to find on Ebay. Made by Lucas Oil.

Thanks for the silicon lubricant tip, Michael. I ordered some to try.

I know the TP is OK, having already inspected it under magnification, and pushing ammo through it. After porting it, I spent a good while polishing it and the leade.

I need to inspect the crown still, right.

Some Pitbull barrel supports will arrive soon, and I will inspect it further when putting those in.

I get the feeling that I'm going to have to order up a TJ 1-26 .357 barrel and put it in a bulldog...  Unless Travis (wink-wink) beats me to it, and makes a drop-in replacement available to the masses... (wink-wink).   

It's groups like this that worry me about that factory bulldog barrel, insofar as accuracy...

285 fpe calculates to be about 940 fps.  Have you tried bumping down the velocity at about 50 fps increments and see if accuracy improves?  I don't know if that's easily done as I don't have a Bulldog yet.   

Of course try removing the moderator like others have mentioned and see if that makes a difference first.

Can you detect any movement between your scope and barrel?  But that shouldn't make that big a difference at that close range.

Have you tried using Shock Oil on pellets?  Just wondering if there is one 'oil' to use for all situations or if it's FP-10 for pellets, and Shock Oil for slugs.

I haven't tried adjusting the speed. If needed, I will try that also, but I will do some more work with the barrel first (Pitbull supports and moderator).

I have been looking at this company for cast slugs. Seems like reasonably priced. I was looking at the 22's and re sizing them along with the 32's but thought you may be interested in the .357's.

This may be a dumb question, But I have not seen it mentioned in this thread yet.
 How long has it been since the barrel was cleaned ?

I ask this, because several of the guys I shoot with have high powered big bores.
 They pretty much all seem to agree, that Big Bore AG's pushing Slugs, need to have the barrels cleaned far more often than lower powered pellet pushers.

I know that on my .22 to .25 cal guns,... I can go several hundreds of shots,
(and sometimes a couple thousand shots),
Before the accuracy and consistency begins to diminish.

I know the guys in my group who have the higher powered slug pushers, are cleaning their barrels much more often than that.

I cleaned it after opening the TP. Still, the barrel itself may need some polishing and breakin as it has only had maybe 75 slugs through it (as in this is a new one).

I will do some work on it over the weekend and see if I have time to shoot some more next week. I will report back.

Have you cleaned the barrel? I was having issues with a different rifle and once I clean it out properly it was same hole at 50 yards with Nick’s 142’s.

Yes, I did clean the barrel, work on the trigger group, and some other things. This shrunk the groups to 2 inches at 75 yards. Closer in, the groups are far better. It is 75 yards and further that they begin to open up. I am continuing to work to improve the gun in the ongoing log a few posts up.
