I recently picked up a .177 HW95 from a dealer closing out his operation. Although the gun was new old stock, the breech seal had literally disintegrated, and needed replaced. I didn't have the correct seal on hand, so I improvised for the time being. After about 300 shots, I ran the gun over the chronograph, and found the velocities to be in the 820-830 fps range, with 8-8.2 grain pellets. I figure this is a touch low, and no doubt, the correct breech seal will improve things. That said, what are owners getting for average numbers out of their unmolested 95s/R9s?

Those rifles ave between 880 and 930fps with 7.9gr pellets so I'd think it should be in 880's with those pellets!

Rob I don't use their site because I find their #'s are way off from my my testing, my 15yr old R10 thats never been tuned shoot 890fps with 7.9gr cp's and my R9 shoots 920fps with the same pellet untuned, and I've seen allot of reports of the same #'s from these guns from different people over the years.

Hey all,
My unmolested R9 with factory spring and seals does 834 fps avg with 8.44gr AA diabolo and 894 fps avg with 7.9gr JSB RS pellets...It's an older one from Huntington Beach, CA. ( Is that older)...
I am thinking about putting in a JM kit, as I had put in a VORTEK kit, that worked great but after a few hundred pellets went to less than 834 with the JSB RS pellets.

So, popular opinion confirms that my gun is shooting a touch slower than usual; thanks for the replies. I have ordered a new breech seal, so we'll see what happens. Now, to take care of the twang...
