I have 97 pounds of lead in a plastic bucket. It's attached to a bar with a rope and pulley - I use it for pull-downs as otherwise it's just sitting around - I don't cast anything and will sell it to a scrap dealer or home casting shooter some day. Anyway, I have this bucket of rather clean lead from I don't know how many tens of thousands of shots, mostly from when I was training seriously and competing in 10 metre air pistol. And most of these .177" pellets (and quite a few in .22" from testing various tunings of my other airguns) were stopped by duct seal. Here's an example of that - a 5lb bag for $17:

You can grab some in the electrical section at any Home Depot too, in 1lb blocks. This stuff will stop anything if it's thick enough. Not 'easy' to pull the lead out, but once you've shot it full of lead the metal comes out as one big piece, the duct seal having been splatted out of the way and the lead smearing together very cleanly. 5lbs hammered into a wooden box a foot square should be plenty for your big bore. Go to 10lbs if you're not sure, and have an inch or two of plywood for the back of the box. I've shot .22lr into it - only subsonic up to 1050fps - and have seen that stopped in 2" thick of new duct seal, and in less than 1" once the stuff is thoroughly leaded up in the bullseye area. It's not like any other sort of putty or clay. Has weird properties when impacted. A normal pellet gun such as a kid might shoot will have pellets stopped by new duct seal at about 1/2 the pellet length penetration. Modelling clay won't stop such a pellet in less than an inch. Pottery clay might need two inches.

My trap is a plywood box filled 18" deep with rubber mulch.  It will stop a +P+ 9MM, so I'm pretty sure it will stop just about any airgun slug or pellet.

I'll make a ply wood box out of 3/4 inch and fill it with either duct seal or rubber mulch and it should stop my air guns easy enough  probably 18 inches by 18 inches would be big enough

Mine is 24" deep. Will stop 69gr and 80gr .223 at 50 yards.

Super-sonic 55gr soft points leave little more than a jacket, in just a few inches. They 'silver' the rubber chunks. Sub-sonic only smash the exposed lead on the nose.

The hollow point boat-tail match bullets go a good bit deeper and leave some lead in the mangled jacket...
