Had a few minutes during lunch today so thought I'd step out back and see if the Urban was shooting as good today as it did yesterday. After I removed the pickle and shrouded it, I lost a lot of accuracy. It had been driving me inside, I kept trying different baffle combinations and materials as well as different hammer spring adjustments and fill pressure. I cleaned the barrel with Ballistol and some patches and that didn't seem to help until the next day. Power isn't important to me as I don't hunt, but accuracy and efficiency are. I think I found the winning combo. This won't win any competitions, but it sure puts a smile on my face. Power is all the way down and I'm only filling to 2000psi. I get 50 shots down to just above the 1k line on the gauge, call it 950psi air usage. That gives me a low of about 727, a high of 749, and back to the 720's. I could get a couple of more but like to stay with even magazine numbers. It was a bit breezy today, but at 17fpe (or close enough to call it that) they still cut the wind pretty well. Oh yeah, that reminds me, this was using CPHP 14.3. $5.82 a tin a WallyWorld, gotta love it
Most
of the 50 landed in a group that measures just under 2.5 inches at 50 yards. I had a few flyers but I can live with those.

That's an awesome string. Accurate and efficient. What size is the Urban's air reservoir?

Thanks mackeral5. the reservoir is a whopping 105cc. It can be filled to 3300 and some change. For my needs, 2k works just fine.
Yep, caymin it is a lot of fun and cheap!

Load it up with JSBs and shrink that circle by 50%
Nice shooting, Todd!

That is amazing efficiency for any gun. Lloyd's calculator shows somewhere in the range of 1.90?

When you say hammer spring adjustments, to you mean just the screw or different springs?

You guys are correct, it can do way better than that, but for punching paper I can't justify 3 times the cost of pellets for maybe a 50% smaller hole. If I used it to hunt and wanted to be sure I had a clean, ethical kill the first shot, absolutely.
Rufus, the Urban has a hammer spring adjuster behind the plastic cover under the bolt handle. It changes the preload, that's what I turned down. It has about 15 turns from low power to high power, from the factory they come at the upper end. You have to be careful when going up, you can slip the nut off the end and then it is a tear down to put it back on. I had actually taken mine out to just shoot the air out and was going to plug the transfer port for a bit less power and saw how it was shooting. For once I decided to leave well enough alone!
I do have some H&N FTT in the 5.53 head size, those shoot as well as the JSB's in mine, last year I was able to get some dime sized groups (5 shots) at this power range with them at about 65 yards. I think the next time I shoot I'll try some, I haven't shot them in awhile.
BSA did some great work on the valves, the Phox (the UK version of the Urban) gets upwards of 80 shots at just under 12ft lbs with a crazy small ES.

Thanks for the info. I have had Urban for over a year and have not shot it much. My hammer adjustment was set on the low side. I turned it till it stopped for the lowest setting. I prefer a lot of shots over power because of hand pumping. Haven't had time to run across the chronograph since adjusting but hope mine is as good as yours.
