Demo Derbys!!!!

Anybody besides me a fan? The Nebraska County Fair season is in full swing, and most of them have Demo Derbys. Something about your foot "thru the firewall", hit 'em as hard as you can mentality that appeals to me. This Saturday the one I'm going to has pickup trucks and "old school" class. That's the old Caddys, Imperials, New Yorkers; heavy Detroit steel doing their best to destroy each other. Good Fun!

  Yip, Platte County fair is this week.  I have friends with cars in the derby. It will have to really cool down for me to be able to go. But fun times indeed !

I'm a fan but haven't seen one since I was stationed in CA back in the early 90s.  I used to love seeing old iron push and shove, but now I'd rather seem them restored and driven.  Now schoolbuses bumping around?  WAY awesome.  Never seen in person but I want to.

  I did a project in Wisconsin at a large Dairy.  Once a year the owner sponsered a large Demo Derby on the side of a hill in the winter.  It was awesome !  And they had a barn with a checker board floor with numbers in each square. They would turn a chicken loose and bet on which square the chicken would s*#&.   Chicken S@*# Bingo ........


Did I mention that the winters are veeeeerrrrrryyyyyyy veeeeeeerrrrryyyyyy long in Wisconsin

Peter, I like to the restore/refresh the old steel pickups.  But if someone else wants to bump and grind their stuff, I love to watch.  I might even pay a few bucks at the gate if there are boats and trailers being towed around.  Now that is something to see!

Those derbies are big fun to watch!   And a fair bit more exciting than the tractor pulls.

Never participated but used to love to watch Demo Derby's...
 To prove just how far in the sticks I live, Our county fair even has a night for Combine Demo Derby.

London, Ohio has lawn tractor pulls... how exciting is that?

The one I'm going to tonight has a combine class, along with trucks, old school, and limited weld........   For a $10 ticket what's not to like?

Demo Derby at the Keith County Fair in Ogallala tonight has a combine class    , plan on going and checking out a few other things as well. Good trout fishing to be had in the area, and I have family to visit on the way home.

They used to have a small 1/2 mile oval at Islip Speedway near where I grew up on Long Island NY. it was closed down back in the 1970's but before it closed they had Demo Derby's and figure 8 races on Saturday nights great fun.
