How loud is the .25 standard Veteran? Is an Ldc absolutely necessary or do most add it because they like "mouse fart" quiet? Also can someone share the shroud diameter, I'm wondering if the DonnyFl Koi has a smaller OD than the shroud which would look foolish.

On the prowl for a new .25 and was thinking FX Impact but I just really don't NEED such an expensive gun and for some reason I just got the feeling that it may disappoint... I know the Veteran isn't cheap by any means but for the price (compared to some other airguns) it seems you get a HECK of a lot for your money.

I have a Ronin on my .25 standard," does it need it"? No,not by any means, I was going for super quiet. It's not quite as quiet as my Mrod with a NC Reflex shooting 830ish, but it is close and the Veteran is shooting 880ish. I love mine, hardly ever shoot my mrod any more. If you buy one I don't think you will be disappointed.

The loudest thing about the .25 Veteran to me is the hammer slap. The .22 doesn't have much but the .25 is noticeably louder. So even with an LDC, the gun will seem loud because of that hammer.

Using the Shogun, which is the next larger ldc on the 60 fpe Rainstorm II, and according to all vermin shot with it, it is Deadly quiet! Muhahahaha!

Thanks guys, I actually prefer not to even use an ldc to keep it shorter and I don't need it to be silent. My neighbors are cool and they know I shoot stuff over here haha.

If yours isn't accurate and has a lousy trigger, it will be the first one I've heard about. It will be hard to find negative reviews on the Taipans

For the same amount of money I think I could buy fx wildcat mk2, I think it is as accurate as Veteran nice coking mehanizam at front and the ability to exchange liner with new stx barrel

Oh I know Rico, I had a Mutant and it was lights out and the machine work and trigger are beautiful!

ellcrow, I've also had a wildcat .22 (mk1) and my mutant was a step (or 3) above in the quality department. I know most prefer the forward sidelever but pound for pound the Taipan wins hands down. That's my story and I'm sticking to it (until I change my feeble mind

)

The only thing I've done to mine it turn it down from 930ish to 880ish, besides the Ronin.

Mine shot about the same but the Mutant was def. more consistent. I shot a 50 shot group (was just using the same aimpoint while shooting over the chrony) at I think like 47 yards with it and didn't have 1 flier. My wildcat barrel was prone to fouling which would hurt accuracy bigtime.

One more note, FX regulators don't really have a stellar reputation (a lot have been replacing them with Huma). You very well could get a good one and never have an issue but maybe not... Never heard anything bad about Taipans reg.
