FWIW, Copied from Archer Airgun's website:
Recommended starting depths for Duct Seal in "Silent" Pellet Traps
For .177 wadcutters Muzzle Velocity Duct Seal Depth
500fps 1 inch
900fps 2 inches
1200fps 4 inches
Add 50% to all depths for pointed pellets
For .22 wadcutters Muzzle Velocity Duct Seal Depth
500fps 1 inch
700fps 2 inches
1000 fps 4 inches
Add 50% to all depths for pointed pellets

Wow that's a lot of duct seal. I have been using 1/2 inch in my metal trap and it stops everything fine. Even stopped a .22 Winchester Mag rimfire last weekend @ 66 yards made a big dent in the back but no penetration. My box is made of an electrical junction box (fuse box) 9x12" and I have 2 bricks of seal smashed to the back. Been shooting it for 2 years now.

Do ya mean the strips that seal metal duct flanges together? I used that for vacuum bagging some epoxy layups, and worked great. i was a Superintendent so mine was free, but no more, thinkin of using modeling clay, probably lots cheaper...

I just bought 5 lbs of duct seal off eBay for a delivered price of $14.22.
I have a Do-All pellet trap that I am going to modify (more than I already have) so I can add the d/s to it, and stop the noise.
I've added a place to store my targets by adding a cover over the back of the traps slanted recess. It has a flip open lid so the targets that I print out off the internet are protected from the sun and to a lesser degree ...... poor weather/dew.
