Sheridan Silver Streak help!

Trying to fix my boss' old Silver Streak. I've resealed the gun with a kit from Baker Airguns, but when I pump not all the air is getting into the valve. I can pump 10 times and the rifle barely shoots a pellet. And when I pump it feels like the air is trapped in the tube when I pull the handle away from the gun. It bounces up if that makes any sense.

Sounds to me like it possibly has a stuck valve, broken poppet stem, or maybe a gummed up hammer and/or hammer spring.
Possibly a broken hammer spring ? 
How long has it been since it was last operating ?

 Have you looked at the hammer and/or spring ?
 Is it coated/gummed with old/sticky lube / grease / oil ?

I've completely disassembled and rebuilt the gun. Hence my confusion!

Sounds like the check valve (inlet side) isn't opening to let the air into the valve.  That would cause the pump arm to spring open when you pull on it. The compressed air that didn't make it into the valve is popping the pump arm open.

Did you replace the original spring? If so, maybe the replacement spring is too stiff?  You might want to take it apart and put the original springs back in.

Yep. Stuck intake valve. Did you oil the valve internals, before you put it back together? I've found that it helps to start out with the valve a little "wet", on reassembly.

I did. I put more oil than I thought necessary. I'll pull her apart again and check it out.

You likely have a leaking check valve (after each pump stroke all the compressed air is released back into the tube, pushing the handle open).  The valve seats on both check and exhaust need to be totally smooth to seal; many folks who reseal pump-ups routinely polish the seats to avoid leaks.  This can be a chore on the hard-to-reach check end - emery paper on the end of a dowel is one method.

Black rubber side towards muzzle?

Yeah, but, you have to shine a light in there and make sure that it landed the right way. They like to flip over on you.
